Yeah, I know. It probably did change with this generation with adding in fairy to it.
Like before, there was some formula or something that's tied to a specific IV which determine's the type. Breeding around for that as well as getting the IVs you want will take a while. I guess at least in this generation, it's only those with extremely shallow special move pools that will make use of it. Technician users will have something better.

I read somewhere (I think Bulbapedia) that there is no Fairy type HP and that the formula used to calculate type from gens 3 to 5 is still being used.

Just found out my shiny Delphox has the rare Dark type HP...which won't help it much unless it were facing another Delphox or Victini.
