Fafnir weapons/equips will be changed in the future?

Excuse me for my ignorance but I was curious if we eventually will have fafnir weapons with 40% boss damage on them.
If so, should I just sell my current gear and get these fafnir equips anyway? I always thought i'd be fine with Empress
but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Not unless we get that additional options thingy, which we wont as it stands currently. They could add it in anyway as a special Fafnir thing, but I doubt it give that they did not do it from the start.
