actually can kill them, I've been a gold donor on SP for almost 2 years (I think). I haven't seen them at all, and still can't. I voluntarily decided to see what was going on with the ad slots, saw the worst gif animation I have ever seen, and decided to save everyone from the eyesore.

Who are you saving, exactly? Who was complaining? Who wasn't enjoying it? I'm sure that there were a few here and there who didn't like them, but I didn't see many, if any at all. It would be different if there were lots of people crying out for it to be taken down (At which point I wouldn't have bothered funding them further), but this is basically all that I've seen as far as complaints go. When its all said and done, if people don't want them there, I'd respect that. But that doesn't seem to be the case, as you are one of the only few that I've noticed having any objections.

As far as the animations, they're purposefully terrible for comedic value. This is not a work of art, and was never meant to be.

EDIT: Real classy hover messages you have there. You're free to outbid the ads if you want, but this is downright childish.
