Polantaris Wrote:Mastery Books are the perfect example of the rich getting richer, ESPECIALLY with everything having been replaced with Secret Mastery Books. All that happens is before a new class is released, some rich people stock up on them (ESPECIALLY if the books are released early), and then when the class comes out they have a ton of books but they're all for an excessively high price that no one lowers for a long period of time.
That's one of the reasons I don't get the hype for a new class. You can't even fully experience it unless you're filthy rich for a few months.
In JMS, for a very long time there was a period where Mastery Books you needed either didn't exist because the mobs that dropped them weren't trained on, or were for classes that were popular and cost an arm and a leg. Fourth Job was just utterly retarded in every way imaginable, because you couldn't level any skill. I remember when Demon Slayer came out and trying to buy any books at all was like a joke.
@Above: How the hell is Maple Warrior so cheap...MW20 is still like 300m in JMS and MW30 is even worse. You have no idea how happy I was when I saw that Kanna and Hayato got their own version that was already Lv.30 max.
Not really... since like Renegades there have been class specific MMBs in the respective event shops, you can get a few books for free from various theme dungeons (Neo City, LHC, Silent Crusade, are there others?), and a couple of Hot Time events giving out another free class specific book. Hayato/Kanna are expensive because they were taken from a different version of MS which didn't have those luxuries, but generally it isn't too expensive to play new classes.
And it's actually more profitable to stockpile MMBs and just sell them without opening. When Kaiser/AB/Lumi were released MMBs shot up from 6-7mil to 21-25mil for a couple of weeks and then steadily declined after the Hot Time events.
I agree that the MMB system is awful though. The pre-big bang method of obtaining certain skills from quests was great, it should have stayed like that but made all skills and all levels of skills available via quests rather than needing any books though.
