First of all My sympathies go out to the family.
I thought the evaluation process for adult ADHD was more thorough than that. Just goes to show you how ineffective some of these diagnostic tests are in some cases. In my opinion invention of biochemical or radiological tests for these disorders would be very helpful. In the meantime while we do not have those tests, physicians need to have more restraint with prescribing medication. This overprescribing can also be seen in antibiotics, and it it is leading to the formation of drug resistant bacterial strains. Perhaps a regulating body which oversees diagnoses? Of course that would come with its own set of problems.
