A corsair's/bucc's strategy is sit and die. A phantom's strategy might be to hide in DS and pick off people at the end of their skirmishes.
In order for PvP to work, before they even think about balance between classes, they would need to completely revamp skills, maps, the lag, everything, and I just don't see it happening. PvP in Maplestory is and always will be a joke.
That being said, that doesn't stop me from playing it for shits and giggles. I encountered a DrK who I couldn't kill without killing myself. His PG killed me while he was AFK after I Lightning Edge'd him.
PvP can be balanced and I know of many ways to make it as balanced as possible while using existing resources and not brand new content. I could make it that EVERY class has a fighting chance and additionally have a place in a team of 6 in TDMs.
The problem is the idiot higher ups at Nexon that go out of their way to make PvP the worst unbalanced pomegranate possible... Also, there's no doubt that they have a significant bias towards a few classes while they rarely pay attention to the rest.
If they just recycled/copypaste the old PvP without changing anything, it would be more balanced... but they just had to go out of their way to make it worse.
