Is Thunderbreaker's shark wave useless because of the Blast buff?
#1
So Blast dos more damage then shark wave according to the skill tables. Does this make Blast worth maxing in second job? If so which skill should be left unmaxed? Corkscrew blow? Is Shark Wave still worth maxing in 3rd job?

I use Sharks to build Energy and then unleash Blast. Also throw Sharks as I jump towards mobs and get into Blast range.

In 2nd job, I maxed all except Booster, then later on, in 3rd job I started maxing Booster with Energy Charge points and left Sharks at 24. But now, with the SP reset, I left Screw unmaxed and maxed Booster with those points.

sharkwave range is ridiculous. Yeah you could run up to the monsters and smash their faces in with blast, but the sharks will eat eat them quicker and get almost across the screen.

Blast isn't very useful honestly. Sharkwave is very versatile. I usually 2-hit kill everything, so blast isn't necessary.

So is it best to Leave screw at 11 or 12(to get 5 mobs and take 1 point out of lighting charge?)

Nothing replaces corkscrew, but if you use sharkwave instead of blast in all circumstances, I recommend taking out of blast. There are circumstances where blast is better, like lhc or something with no more than 4 pinned, but laziness makes me use sharkwave anyway.

You could also just not max booster, then go back and max it with the points you would have placed in LOL shockwave.

And the points that you would put in Speed infusion, since it's the same increase (decrease?) at all levels.

If you have a White Knight/Paladin in your party with Combat Orders, you can get Speed Infusion to 21, meaning a -3 attacking speed. So I would leave SI at at least 19.

I agree with the Shockwave part, although it's stronger then Sharkwave now:

Mobskills:

Skill% damageDelay% per second
Somersault Kick200%840 ms238%/s
Energy Blast580%720 ms806%/s
Shockwave750%1230 ms610%/s
Shark Wave510%1050 ms486%/s

Single Target skills: (comparison)

Skill% damageDelay% per second
Straight260%600 ms433%/s
Energy Drain400%600 ms667%/s
Barrage2160%2430 ms889%/s

Info from here. All numbers ignoring the range, which you shouldn't do when you choose the skills.

That is true. But thunderbreaker doesn't really need -3 speed because all he really needs is booster + lvl 1 SI to achieve max speed. Most of the time you won't be partying.

Isn't Sharkwave still better then Shockwave because it is much faster? They have about the same range as well.

Not true. The attacking speed variable isn't defined by an equation based on level, it's always -2, whether you're at level 1 or level 21.
