ANOTHER meso exploit?
#21
Fenne Wrote:It was honestly just a matter of time. The second they bugged the account logins two weeks ago and let you log in two characters on the same account in two instances of maple I knew it was only a matter of time before someone exploited the storage system to duplicate mesos. Nexon is pretty retarded sometimes. They just opened themselves wide up to that one :/

You're assuming these fake mesos is coming from that and not another place.

Who said there would be a rollback? For all we know it could just be the duping that someone said earlier and that means these mesos will run out eventually.Or maybe its not.I can see maybe a long sc to fix up the problem but maybe not a rollback.

I got two problems with the theories going around:
One: With the trillions of mesos that must exist in the game, I don't see how it is possible that every single meso could be tagged with a serial number or pedigree indicating whether is was good or bad or where it came from.
Two: If the system is smart enough to 'realize' something is wrong and tag a meso as bad at time of its creation, why can't the system just prevent the exploit?

Keep the mass panic and rumour-mongering to a minimum, please. Saying it now before this thread goes off with it.

While I doubt that every meso is tagged or that this system exists, to answer your second question, because Nexon would have been the ones who designed it.

I saw that someone mentioned they were already hellbanned, can anyone else confirm being hellbanned? That would essentially mean an exploit happened, no?

what exactly does hellbanned mean?

they ban all the accounts associated with your ip, or they just permaban your account or what?

A rollback is probably the best choice to counteract this, but I know that if they do this (assuming an exploit exists), they'll probably roll back so far that I'll probably lose my Quest Specialist medal, the lucky Advanced DEX Crystal that I forged (I was intending on getting a Basic/Intermediate for a future overall), and the Blue Metus that I bought on Friday. I suppose losing all of that is better than having to deal with even further irrepairable damage to the economy, though.

From the sounds of it, they do something to your account that ensures that the glitched meso that you obtained does not circulate within the economy. The block is released when they delete the glitched meso from your account.

EDIT: MissingLink's explanation is better.

I'm pretty sure it was started by some nubs, and now it's been running rampant ever since by the followers. It means to be banned in masses, either temporarily, or permanently. It's probably the former, but I'm just guessing out of my ass on this whole meaning.

Either way, I hope we don't get rollbacked. It just leads to even more chaos.

No, it means you can't drop, trade, duey or set up shop. Previously people who were hellbanned later had their mesos wiped when they were released from the hellban.

Err, no. You still have access to your account while hellbanned, but you're restricted from trading or dropping your items and mesos. I believe you can still use MTS to move items off your account though.

Make sure not to transfer any items in storage, either. I lost my facestompers last time.

To answer a few questions in this thread:

Some quite so famous hackers in windia (names not gonna be mentioned) have smega'd at least twice that this hack does involve the storage system when using 2 characters at once and some packets. So yeah, the mesos are coming from that. They can get max mesos each time they use this exploit, so the amount of mesos is adding up pretty badly.

A rollback seems pretty imminent. 7 att pac's are being sold for max mesos, and nearly anything that would be worth buying has been sold in the FM. There's pretty much nothing left cept a few bad scrolls no one wants. (oh, as well as shops that have already sold enough items/scrolls to get max mesos). So yeah... wonder exactly when they'll roll back to 0.o

He's right. It's a hack that was apparently just released publicly on a site. Something to do with sending a packet while you have two characters on the same account logged in and on the same channel both while in storage.

I seem to recall saying not to explain in detail how to do this back when I was called an alarmist by the people who couldn't figure it out...

Sue me? My deepest apologies for not scanning every thread on this forum to look for a post I didn't know existed in a thread I didn't know existed.
Was there a reason you only quoted me? Cus the poster above me said basically the same thing.

Okay, never mind me then. Since he didn't give any of that bonus info I just thought he was guessing that is how the most recent exploit was happening.

Well I sure am going to be banned after all the high end sales I made this past week. -_- Hopefully Nexon's response to this won't be as pomegranatety as it was last time.

I saw it smega'd in Windia earlier too. It was really annoying cuz I was just about to go try to merch and what happens? Public Meso Exploit! UGH!
