Update Regarding Latency Issues

Dear Maplers,

We know that many of you have been experiencing lag and stability issues with the game since the May 21 maintenance. In order to combat this, we will be blocking several channels in each world until we can implement a permanent fix. This will decrease the load on the server resources, reducing overall lag and instability.

Starting today in each of the worlds, only the following channels will be available.

1, 2, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18

When you log in to the world of your choice, please select one of the channels above.

We are working hard to fix this issue and we appreciate your patience.

Same number of players on fewer channels. How will that change in any good way?

Hmmmm, great logic. Do empty channels impact stability that much?

Well, here's hoping it actually makes a difference. The lag going on really made things feel...slow and that's not fun to deal with especially since I had just started another newbie.

EDIT: *sigh* The lag's definitely still there. I guess I'll wait until this is dealt with fully maybe?

Wouldn't making everyone go into fewer channels create a bigger problem?

They were averaging 4~6 channels down per world already. Way to just admit defeat Nexon lol

I wonder whether all the randomly-cc'ing content (e.g. Azwan, or leaving Evo) knows about this list, or just keeps dc'ing you.
Or fixed-cc content (such as Monster Park), for that matter.

No issue is solved by this, not even temporarily. Great jorb.

Why not just take the whole damn game down and fix it? Or, if it's effecting only certain worlds, take the entire world down?

Maybe because they don't think taking it down will fix it any faster?

They apparently don't know what is wrong, or how to fix it, or both. So they're investigating.

When Nexon allow an exploit to run rampant for hours or days, I join the chorus of "take it down already". But in this case, what harm is it doing to leave the game open? It might actually be helping them, since they can watch and find out what's choking the servers. And if you find it too laggy to play - just don't play. Pretend that it's down.
