Masteria Expansions, Names and the proof for each
IsaacGS Wrote:Ossyria didn't just steadily increase in level. In fact, once they did Leafre and hit the extreme high end, they dipped back down to mid levels (Mu Lung Gardens), then to low level (Ariant). From there they worked back up mid (Magatia + Elin) to high (Time Temple). Masteria could bounce around in level range as well, though I'd imagine there will be a decently high level boss in all regions.

Anyway, main thing I wanted to posted was an idea I think Nexon should try.
At the moment, we're facing a bit of a dilemma: It's likely 6-8 months before another Masteria expansion, and the iTCG will definitely be off the shelves long before then. Up till now, iTCG has been the main vehicle for new information on Masteria for us to speculate on, due to item flavor text in game and the iHints on the cards themselves. So, one thing we definitely need is a new vehicle for the dispersal of information on upcoming Masteria updates, and we need something to maintain interest in the Masteria storyline over the course of the months where little advancement is going on in game. What's a good way to do this?

In my opinion, the best way to do this would be to release "filler stories" detailing events on Masteria, both with the current areas and the new areas. There's a great opportunity for this in the tales of the Crimsonwood-Krakia war. We have one great example of this now, in the form of the tale of Headless Horseman. By using the Crimsonwood-Krakia war, not only will we have the setting in a familiar area that's already released, but we can learn about the enemy in the next area (Krakians), the Alchemist, and details on other historical figures in Masteria's past. These could be done, potentially, in three different ways: the first, and most obvious, is to post raw text stories as GM blogs on the nexon site. They have done this before, in the form of Jack's exploration of the mansion prior to Halloween. It was pretty good, I wouldn't mind seeing this again.

The second possibility is a comic using Maple sprites. Again, this is something they had done before, in the Pirates promo. They told the story of Kyrin's father and of the Nautilus in comic form, and they did a decent job. I know that Nexon Korea does manga-style comics on a regular basis and that's great as well. The last possibility is a video, and they could tell the story in the form of youtube episodics. I think this would be a very good option as well, because by having it on youtube, it's in a place where lots more people can see it, and it would seemingly be good marketing because you could draw in potential new users who see and enjoy the series there.

It's likely that Nexon already has quite a bit of currently unused information lying around (what is typically called "world fluff", information used in development notes to help describe the way things are. I actually know for a fact they have this stuff, we found some of it on their FTP describing the Raven Ninjas and Lukan.) that could be used to engineer stories in this way. It wouldn't really take a lot of effort necessarily, and in my opinion it would greatly add to the experience and to Masteria itself.

Opinions? I really like this idea, I wish Nexon would think of it. xD

I would definitely love to see something to fill in the blanks for now! You should post this on their forums, because they read their forums with more detail than tickets.

Make it a Delorean and I'm sold.

That, or a blue police box.

Fixed. Also gets my approval.

Even better.
I'm not double posting.
Orly?
The tombstone at the Hollowed Ground of Haunted House messes up the storyline. It says "Looking for head. Will return if unsuccessful. - Headless Horseman" yet Lita Lawless says Killian (the Headless Horseman) burned his head off. Nexon needs to update it.
By the way, if I'm not mistaken, didn't Christopher Crimsonheart build CWK?

You are also told that the headless horseman is forever cursed to wander the forest in search of his head. This curse was placed on him by the mage specifically to keep him off in the forest and out of the way.
He built it, yes, but not on his own, IIRC.

It makes sense to me. He burned his head off, and now hes off looking for a new head. Fits perfectly with the regular tale of the Headless Horseman. Poast
A Masteria update seems long, long overdue, we've had practically nothing for the past 6+ months, at least we had iTCG forging last year (extremely random cakes in sphinx don't really count). Did any meaning come out of those sun/moon tombstones or whatever in Bigger Ben yet? The developers must be insanely slow to develop something that had its design finished over two years ago.

There hasn't been anything from those yet... I mean the end of Crimsonwood Keep implies that the Crimsonheart Tombstone at the end is important in the near future, but so far the puzzle is still completely incomprehensible.

Exactly. That's why I was wondering if there are ever going to be any more Crimsonwood Keep expansions or stuff like that. They should use the Raven Ninjas for something else other than making them stay in a camp and not be helpful with anything. For example, they should include them in the new expansion and make them more.. "useful"?

Also, they should make a quest in which you inform them that a way into the Keep was found (still, as I said when they released it, this doesn't make sense at all - how did a door suddendly open in the center of the keep?!? Weren't we supposed to find an alternative way to go inside??), or you do the party quest, discover where the Grandmasters are and tell the Raven Ninjas about them..

I'm 99% positive that NEXON doesn't know how to continue the story now.

Also, what about the Yetinx with Cakes inside? Like, what the.. I guess they decided to use it as an event are only? Did they run out of ideas or what? This doesn't make sense at all, as well.. how can a cake town be inside a Yetinx? How will they explain that when (and if) they will release a new area inside it?

Many questions without an answer.. since NxProse and NxJoeW left, we haven't known a thing about new Masteria expansions..

Your post lost all meaning or credibility with that.
Okay, maybe not.
Takebacker Wrote:Your post lost all meaning or credibility with that.

why's that? i think he had a sound reasoning with that. they can barely keep the game running smoothly, so whats to say they cant come up with an idea for a masteria expansion?
It could also be that they can't come up with a decent idea for the new maps. Not as easy as it seems, really.

It takes a couple days for a professional manuscript at most to be written. Updating once a year gives plenty of time for that. When you consider the fact that the designing, drawing, coding, etc. relies on a solid story and that all that takes several MONTHS, i'd say they have the entire storyline mapped out already.

Not to mention prose already said that the quest scripts were several (by several i'm sure he means at least 15-20) pages long anyway.

As far as the yetinx = cake town thing is concerned, they'll probably just go and say "HOLY CRAP THIS YETINX IS A VORTEX TO OTHER DIMENSIONS. (versal)" Not saying they need some BS excuse though. Aside from create some random mini dungeon out of nowhere or using currently existing mini dungeons (WHICH EVERYONE HATES) for some stupid event, why not use the yetinx for now because what they want to put in there isn't ready yet.
Great guide isaac. I'm keeping my hopes up concerning new masteria areas...
