Has anyone in Nexon ever taken a Marketing class?

FreeNoods Wrote:Lmfao, my bad. I'll be the first to admit that Nexon has fucked us where the sun don't shine till we bled. I just think all the 13 year olds submitting tickets like,

"OMG MY CHAR CANT GO IN CASH SHOP! I BUY LOTS NX, YOU DON'T FIX? I QUIT! pineapple YOU NEXON@@@@@@@@@@"

aren't helping the problem at all, because they make an army of idiots and fill Nexon's ticket system full of tickets like that with horrible grammar and probably misspellings.

If nexon had a more intellegent system set up to handling reports of all kinds (not a new idea btw) This issue would be MUCH smaller.

And your proposed idea, completely flawless and without exceptions, is?

Well looking at this topic on a different side, when you see other well known games like runescape, team fortress 2, or even big games like WoW or Eve, the glitches are so small, they're not even noticable.

So small in fact that the only glitches would be graphical glitches if let's say you try to stress the client's ability to process information.

In maplestory, you have all kinds of glitches that set of virtual nukes everywhere.

You got dupers
You got hackers
You got more graphical glitches than anything
Autobans
Server crashing
Disconnecting at bosses
incorrect damage displays
Imbalances
accounts being locked from logging in because they wonder into the cash shop
accidental trips to testing areas
Lack of hitboxes on some mobs
Disconnecting from the client when opening the client
Disconnecting from cutscenes
Rollbacks

^ These are all the things that should have been fixed 2 years ago.

And when you leave someone like -hime- as the brains behind all this sh'it, the players who suffer from these occurances are treated like scum, and are neglected from being compinsated for anything lost no matter the value.

As far as dupers and hackers, those aren't really Nexon's fault considering the amount of worlds and such it would be pertty hard to keep track of dupers and petty hackers like DC hackers. All the other stuff though is legitimate glitches and thats why I'm so frustrated all the time. We're getting 3 MAJOR patches this year and yet still this annoying pomegranate is still around. DCing at bosses and stuff? shoulda been fixed so long ago if they wanted to retain so many more high lvl players.

Basically, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with the reason I created this thread. Not because I dislike new content, but because I dislike new content when all these annoying ass glitches and bugs still exist for over a year if not 2 years.

All issues would be much smaller with a competent ticketng system. Too bad it looks like most companies in America have been adopting the "pineapple off" customer service policy.

Actually preventing duping is pretty damn easy. I wrote a system for it back in 2001 that eliminated any possibility of it in my MMO overnight with negligible overhead just by giving each instanced object it's own unique ID. Any attempt at duplicating failed because the objects couldn't instantiate with a duplicate ID and the system could easily record the who and how of the attempt.

Preventing hacking is actually pretty easy too as long as you keep to the #1 rule of an online game - The server dictates what's happening, not the client.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Look at any other consumer service that takes reports on issues with their product.

They don't just give you a little box to whine about your problems in. They help you help them fix the problem. Or they have details of the crash automatically recorded and sent with your report. Or when it is made readily apparent that their software has massive memory leaks by their consumer base directly to them, they acknowledge and work on the problem.

With an inkling at all of consumer relations, nexon would fix issues much faster. That alone cuts down massively on duplicate reports.

But it isn't easier to maintain old customers in this game, because old customers are always demanding better things, and they never seem to be satisfied with anything. Just look at Big Bang! People were hyping this patch through the roof, and now that we have it people are complaining about it. Older players don't know what they want. Newer players just eat whatever Nexon feeds 'em, and they're more willing to "buy NX today!" because they're not spiteful towards Nexon; after all, they have yet to get screwed by Nexon in some form or another. Also, it doesn't seem to cost anything to add a new client. The player just makes a new account. As far as I know, that doesn't cost Nexon a dime. If it did, Nexon would probably charge for it or something. And each new character is another number that they can brag about to get more funding. If anything, new players print money for Nexon.

They have every reason to favor new players. I'm not saying that I agree with it, either.

To be fair. Its less a matter of payers not knowing what they want. its that Nexon gives it to them with a quality as if it was granted by the freaking MONKEY'S PAW.

Big Bang for example, we got exp TNL Lowered drastically, we most definitely got the lower levels reduced in grind, but the magic of Nexon's Monkey Paw was afoot: NOW there's evidence showing that levels 150+ actually got harder. Arguably a compromise though.

Black Friday Sale: We saw an offer asking ALL players to unite our efforts to reveal new items to the Black Friday Sale! Surely this is a great sign! What company in their right mind would make ALL players combine SPENDING efforts to make a sale only a SET NUMBER of them would get to enjoy? That would be stu- Oh wait, That's EXACTLY what happened. Curse Nexon's Monkey Paw. People claim we should have seen the limited stock thing coming cause its the same every year: However this bit of common sense runs CONTRARY to the logic that a milestone event participated in by everyone would be enjoyed by EVERYONE. Which part of my brain to trust?

Meso exploits happen, fine, a rollback is understandable to fix the damage. Do your thing Nexon: wait... what the... don't... DON'T... DAMMIT THEY RELEASED MESO BAGS. WHY?

There's just a LOT of cases of nexon handing players candy while holding a dagger behind their back. The situations that make the older players grieve as they 'get' what they want. It's not like they had no choice on most situations like these either... i'm pretty sure some of the staff there can see these things and go 'Hey, wait... isn't this kind of obviously pineappleed up?' He probably gets thrown into the Balrog Pit and the financial heads go back to their conversation.

Yeah, I understand completely. I wasn't even trying to defend Nexon. I can just understand why they would continue to gear content towards recruiting new players; in their eyes, veteran players really don't seem to be satisfied with anything. I'm beginning to think that the company is just blind to its own history or something.

Actually Nexon's policy seems more along the lines of "there's one born every minute".

Easier to lure in new customers, get some (possibly small) amount of money off them, and let them go, than to keep opinionated old customers satisfied.

More like Familiarity Breeds Contempt.
