Party experience formula?
#1
I could have sworn I've seen something like that around here somewhere, but I can't find it again.

So. You're in a party and it kills a monster. How much experience do you get if:
1) You killed the monster all by yourself?
2) You did some of the damage?
3) You did none of the damage? (But qualify for "leech" exp)

Bonus question: What does HS do in all these cases?

Clarification: Not related to Lionheart King Castle.

Of all the things that changed in BB, I don't think that formula changed. You can verify it with a couple buds or something. The formula should be here.

The formula there speaks of a 60:40 split, so this is before the "leech killing" 80:20 update.
Trying to just replace 0.6/0.4 with 0.8/0.2 doesn't quite give me the results I've been seeing, either. I vaguely remember there were other changes.
I'll try reading the whole thread, maybe first post didn't get updated, but if anyone can give me a direct link or the new formula itself, I'd be grateful.

The exp is also multiplied by 1,1 for each non-leeching party member.

Thank you.

I didn't know about the 110% cap, that explains some discrepancies, but not all.
The rest, however, can only be explained by assuming a 60:40 split rather than 80:20.

Here is what testing I have done: Took 4 characters to Mr. Anchors (1450 base exp).
Characters were levels 182, 165, 107 and 100.
All tests with HS.
All tests have one char doing all the killing.
Going to ignore the yellow "party bonus" exp for this discussion, since it was always 5% x party_size x kill_exp, as described in the threads mentioned above.

Assuming an 80:20 split, the person doing the killing would always get 110% "white exp". Even if they were level 1 and had 5 level 200 leeches, so they get practically nothing off the "20" part, they'd still get 0.8 x 1.5 (HS) = 1.2, which is truncated to 1.1.

In a party of two, no matter who was doing the killing, they indeed got 1595 exp, which is 1.1 x 1450.
However, in a party of three, if the killer was one of the lower leveled chars, they got less.

On the other hand, the leeches got more experience than 0.2 x 1.5 x level_ratio. For example, when the level 107 was killing and level 100 leeching, the leech got about 420 exp, which is 0.29 of 1450. Should have got 0.2 x 1.5 x 0.48 = 0.145.

So, seems BB put us back on 60:40 footing. I guess that now that leech has been killed by the accuracy formula, there is no more need to penalize true party-training.

80-20 vs. 60-40 depends how you describe it.

The oldest exp formula was
20% to killers (based on hp damage done), 80% to party (split based on party member levels)
Then, more recently, it was
60% to killers (based on hp damage done), 40% to party (same split), basically cutting in half leech exp.
You seem to have misunderstood it to mean 80% to killers, 20% to party.

In an equal level party of 2, this translates to a 60-40 split (old) or 80-20 split (new), where the person who kills the monster gets 66%/88% exp due to the 1.1x multiplier.

That thread does seem to show the right formula in the first post.

If a party consists entirely of lv.100+lv.107, the split is 79.3 - 20.7 or 80.7 - 19.3, depending who kills. Which means 0.193 * 1.5 * 1450 = 419.775 exp, which is what you said they got.

There is no guarantee on 110% base exp gain for the killer. The NEW split was: 60% for killer, 40% for party (which includes the killer). So in a party of two, the killer gets the whole portion dedicatedly reserved for him, PLUS half the portion that goes towards the party as a whole, making it 80% (which the 80-20 ratio refers to) and thus 120% with HS, but capped at 110%.
In a party of 3, the 40% is split into, well, three, lowering the portion the killer gets (more leechers, what can I say about intuition), turning the numbers into (60% + 40%/3) * 1.5 = 110%, lower if the killer is lower leveled (thus receiving smaller a cut from the party budget).

Thank you, Stereo and Kalovale.
I see where I got confused.
