Meet HT! For today's What's Your MapleStory, we chatted with one of our newest Volunteer Moderators on our Official MapleStory Discord about their unique journey.



[B]How long have you been playing MapleStory?[/B]

This is a tough one to answer definitively. I was first introduced to MapleStory by watching a friend play it in the summer of 2007. At the time, he barely knew English, so I spent quite a bit of time translating for him and also got to try playing the game for a few days, but somehow forgot the name of the game so I couldn't search for it to download and play at home. Later, I formally started my Maple adventure with the launch of the Vietnamese version in 2008, while also playing Maple South East Asia during the time Vietnam MapleStory was shut down between the closed and open beta. I then went to study abroad, and began my story in Global MapleStory at the end of 2009. I took a break between 2015 and 2017, so depending on what the reader wants to include in my timeline, I guess I can be considered to have played MapleStory for anywhere between 14 and 18 years now.





[B]Who's your favorite class, and why?[/B]



Did you know Earth is the only planet where fire can burn? Only life can produce the fuel and oxygen needed to start a fire, after all. Fire is a symbol for both life and great destruction, and I've always been quite fascinated by characters and classes with a fiery aesthetic. That was how I was first drawn to this game: my friend at that time just happened to be playing a Fire/Poison Mage. Over time, I've also mained and quite enjoyed playing Bow Master and Paladin (before the Destiny update, when Bow Master skills were very much fire themed, and Paladin had an elemental system). Now, the Paladin is a submain, while my current main and favorite is my Kaiser. I did take interest in Blaze Wizard, but Kaiser takes the cake - after all, who doesn't like the aesthetics of a cool looking fire breathing dragon?







[B]What is your favorite memory while playing MapleStory?[/B]

The first time I managed to save up 80,000 mesos to buy a ticket for the airship from Victoria Island to Orbis, a schoolmate and I decided we'd explore a new continent together. Nobody else was there to warn us that there was a chance a Crimson Balrog would spawn, so imagine the looks on our faces when a random strong monster appeared and instantly defeated our level 30 or so characters! That was when I realized there were so many hidden secrets in MapleStory, and set out to try to discover as many of them as possible. It was quite enjoyable finding all the hidden portals in Victoria Island and stumbling upon so many secret maps I never knew about before, most famously the Pig Beach in Lith Harbor! All the discoveries and my curiosity led me to Strategywiki where I would occasionally contribute, and later to Maplestorywiki.net, which is linked under the Game section of the dropdown at the top of the MapleStory homepage!

[B]What is your current goal? What do you want to achieve in MapleStory?[/B]

It's always exciting to see all the time and effort I put in pay off when I finally clear a new difficult boss for the first time after months of getting stronger and practicing, so my short term goals in the game are always to clearing the next difficulty tier of bosses - as of the time of this post, I'm working towards being able to clear Hard mode Baldrix. In the long term, I'm always looking to meeting new friends in the Maple community and maintain good friendships that last a lifetime. It was such an honor when I was asked to be a groomsman for one of my longest friends in this game just last year!

Now that I'm one of the Volunteer Moderators in the MapleStory Discord, I'm striving to regularly contribute towards keeping the community engaged and positive.
