Maplestory Lag Issue - Eliul - 2017-03-09
Ok so I've already talked to a GM and got it forwarded to a specialist but I doubt that will do anything.
So I came back to maple sometime around November prior to V patch on my new laptop and ever since I have been experiencing lag that I can't seem to nip.
So for specs I'm running
Processor: Intel ® Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHZ
Installed Memory (RAM): 12.0 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor
I use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M/ Intel® HD Graphics 520
I also average at about 136 mbps.
I lag unbearably in the event hall to the point I get like 1 frame per 3 seconds. I couldn't even do Ursus today. It went from floating in the air at the start, freezing for 2 minutes, rewards of 0 mesos since I didn't get to do damage.
Thing's I've done: Reinstalled maple, repaired via nexon launcher, moved maple from SDD to HDD, switched from NVIDIA to internal graphics card, reinstalled windows 10, tried a different internet, used wifi, used ethernet, disabled touch screen feature on laptop, confirmed all drivers are updated, disabled windows firewall, disabled windows defender, ran in Windows vista/8 compatibility mode, and several more I can't remember off the top of my head.
The worst thing is that sometimes my whole PC will crash and get BSOD with cause DRIVE_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (even though all drivers are updated).
I've seen other threads with people having event hall lag and none of the solutions have worked for me. If anyone could help me, that would be great.

Event Hall lag seems to be related to how old and experienced your character is. Do you lag as badly on low-level mules?
There really isn't much we can do, except wait for Nexon to fix it.
At least there is nothing we must do in Event Hall right now.
As for Ursus, I know some (most?) people lag there to some degree, but I am not sure what the cause is. You can try using lowest graphics setting and maximum transparency for skills, both yours and others. Not sure whether it would help.
Are those the only places you lag and/or crash?

Haven't really tried to log onto low level mules and go into EH. After right clicking maplestory in task manager and going into "Set Affinity", unclicking all CPU's but 1 relieves the lag in the Event Hall. I reclicked all of them while staying in the Event Hall and the lag spikes come back. This is something I'd have to manually do just to go into EH. I haven't got to try Ursus with this method because no one is doing it atm. I still experience my lag spikes when going about my dailies (arcane, kritias, training, etc). I went into EH in Reboot and Yellonde and I get the same laggy results.
I just baffles me that people with lower end computers can stream on twitch just fine. I know there's SOMETHING on my PC causing this. Idk if it's a setting in combination with Windows 10, or a background program running I haven't caught wind of. I'm glad I got a temp fix to EH but I'd really like to just end the lag in general. Also with MS running my CPU is at 5-6% and memory at 30ish%.

This also happens with me, i lag in all my mules that go in event hall, so it's my pc, not the character, ursus lag a TON, it's almost impossible to attack, until most people are dead and stopped attacking.
My old pc could do all that very good, it was a old PC, win7 home, with only 2g of ram and 1g of memory card, so maybe old pcs with less cores processors, the old one had 1 if i remember, and my actual one 4.

I did a temp fix to event hall. I opened up task manager, went to details, right clicked maplestory and hit set affinity and only had 1 cpu core clicked and after 30 seconds I can freely walk through event hall. Having more than one core clicked brings the event hall lag back. I then changed my battery settings to maximum performance and reinstalled maplestory and I was now able to Ursus (and I don't have to due the task manager affinity change anymore), but after an hour I tend to lag a lot and I have to close maple and restart it. My laptop is now definitely louder due to the battery settings. I think Maple starts lagging due to overheating issue possibly so I ordered a laptop cooling pad.
