LEAGUE OF LEGENDS SEASON 4 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
September 18, 2014 - October 19,2014
Beware, spoilers are inevitable beyond this point.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamepedia Wrote:Starting in September groups stages will be played in Taipei and Singapore. The tournament then moves on with its bracket stages being played in South Korea, Busan (Quarter-finals) and Seoul (Semifinals and Final).

The 16 qualified teams were drawn into four groups (four teams per group). Two groups will play all their group stage games in Taiwan (18-21st Sept), and the other two groups will play their group stage games in Singapore (25-28th Sept). Each team will play every other team in the group twice (once on blue side, once on purple). This sums up to each team playing 6 group stage games for a total of 12 matches in one group and 24 games per location.

The tournament then moves on to South Korea with quarter finals being played on 3-6th of October, semifinals on 11-12th of October and the final on the 19th of October.

Format
 • 16 Teams
 • Three teams from NA, EU, Korea, and China
 • Two teams from Taiwan or SEA
 • Two global wild cards
 • The teams are divided into 4 groups of 4
 • Top two teams of each group advance to the Bracket Stage

The main reason I'll be watching Worlds this year and the thing I'm expecting the most is a change in the meta, even if slightly. I'm sick of EU/NA's meta of "everyone support the hyper carry" which obligates to play supports in all pineappleing lanes. Worst part is that the champion pool is so freaking limited, each lane only counts with around like 3 to 4 champions, specially top. I know the difference in the meta isn't that big from western to eastern league, but I also know asian teams play some champions which western teams can't seem to make work (cough Rengar cough). I'll be following any team that shows a champion pool different than what we are used to see.

I've been a Fnatic fan since I started watching League tournaments, however I must recognize they seem weaker than last year and so their chances of getting as far as they did in the last Worlds seem dire (they feel like a stronger version of CLG, centering their strategies around Rekkles hoping he can manage to carry them through). Hopefully after these months their other laners have gotten better too, specially Soaz.

Other than that, the only other thing I'm looking forward to see is if the Dade hype labeling him as Faker 2014 is requited.

While the Samsung teams are predicted to make it out, I want to see a TPA story happening. A team that no one expected and underestimate sweep the Championship and prove that just because they're the underdogs doesn't make them weak.

Let's be real here, nobody is going to beat the Koreans. lol.

I find this amusing because we've actually seen far more champion diversity this season top lane than we did last season. In any case, international tournaments always bring some meta clashing which is cool to watch.

I'm definitely feeling the hype this year and have been talking about everything with my fellow interns at work.

That and J4 being so far behind. Not to mention the sighstone buy. He was the equivalent of a piece of paper in team fights. He just got shredded. All in all I think Namei may actually be the better adc (especially given that despite being so far behind he still did most dmg to champs), but SSW is just too strong of a team. They'll man handle this group.

Yup. Namei did the best dish of damage out of everyone.

I have to be honest, I have probably been one of amazing's harshest critics. I felt like he played really poorly during the split, and wasn't really impressed by him during the playoffs. A lot has been said of his champion pool and especially his Lee Sin, and I honestly hadn't seen it in awhile to appreciate it enough that he actually is a top tier Lee Sin player. Especially compared to Dandy's Lee Sin game today, I feel like Amazing really cemented himself as one of the better Lee Sin players in the world with his play today. If he can continue to play like that I don't see TSM having a problem getting out of groups (despite getting stomped on by Royal Club).

Did you guys get up at 2 am to watch the matches? I watched only the last 2 and I'm waiting for them to be uploaded to LolEsports youtube channel to check them out.

Actually, wasn't the top champion pool about the same last year? Renekton, Shyvana, Trundle+ some veterans like Ryze and Mundo? I can't really remember but AT LEAST, last year's meta wasn't about taking supports top as a means to have a second layer of defense for your carry.

This year is Lulu, Maokai, Alistar+ the veterans Ryze and Mundo. Heck I loved seeing Lissandra top from some teams like Fnatic last year.

I hope for the next season we finally see Riots promise of changes that would allow a more wider champion pool in top.

If only this happened before... Like in Season 2 maybe...
