I spend 648k to reveal VPQ equips on my phantom(level <30 insight), guildie has >70 and spends the same.

I think it depends on the rank of the equip, in KMS at least.
I use 332k on revealing rare empress equips, 338 on epic, and 398k on legendary.
I use 462k on my epic tyrant cape.

Really? So by seeing how much it asks me for, I can know the rank before I've revealed? Saves me revealing random monster drops I guess, in the hopes that "maybe it's Epic?"

I have Level 100 Insight and the few things I've cubed/revealed were all free except my Ghost Ship Badge. That cost around 500k per reveal for some reason.

It might be based on what the previous rank was? I dunno. I used an Occult Cube on my epic Empress gloves and had to pay ~390k to reveal it, and I think my Insight is lv20 something. By contrast I can reveal the 8th anniversary equips for ~40k ish, and I don't remember there being a price difference when I revealed one or two things from those boxes that were epic on reveal.
I don't cube much but I'll ask around when the game's back up and see if anyone notices any variance in tiers or equip type/level.

I got the same weapon twice (from drops) with hidden potential, and one cost more than the other. The one that cost more was epic and the other was rare. Also I think 3 lines cost more than 2, but I'm not certain because those weren't exactly the same item, just the same level.

Lv. 99 Rare: 49,005 mesos (99^2 * 5)
Lv. 100 Rare: 50,000 mesos (100^2 * 5)
Lv. 120 Rare: 72,000 mesos (120^2 * 5)
Lv. 150 Rare: 450,000 mesos (150^2 * 20)
Lv. 180 Rare: 648,000 mesos (180^2 * 20) ~~ VPQ equip, according to ¬Rob
Lv. 200 Rare: 800,000 mesos (200^2 * 20) ~~ Tot's Pants, according to Elven Emily
The items above are a mix of 2 lines and 3 lines.
Would appreciate some input from people with cubed Epic/Unique/Legendary. I have no NX.
I doubt it depends on Insight level. Insight only allows you to get free reveals for low level equipment.
My theory is that the general formula is reqLv^2 * multiplier. multiplier appears to be 5 for 71~120 equips and 20 for 121+ equips. But other than that, there's not much else I know.

Before the update, if your insight was high enough you had free reveals.

Some additional information, from recent Hot Days:
Revealing level 80 equips costs 32,000 meso. Doesn't matter whether I do it on a level 10 storage mule with no traits, or my main with level 78 Insight.
So I'm fairly satisfied that [MENTION=1875]Tukkun[/MENTION]'s formula is correct, and Insight only changes the maximum level of items you can reveal for free.
It seems anyone can reveal items up to level 30 for free.
Would appreciate some input on max-free-level from people with high or maxed Insight.

I got some < lvl 30 equips on a drop and it let me revel them for free on a character with lvl 23 insight and a character with insight < lvl 5. O.O Maybe lvl 30 and lower items are free regardless now. Also I don't appear to gain insight from using the magnifying glass in the inv both for low lvl and high lvl items. Do the ones from the store still work/are sold/give insight?

The ones from the store still work and give Insight, but they are no longer sold. (I still have a few from before Unleashed).
