OK, this clock has cost me 3 onyx apples so far cuz I keep getting toasted by the bombs.
Yesterday had it down to almost half dead and over half my apple time left and boom, I suddenly died from a bomb that spawned on me. These little bombs keep toasting me.
Is there any tricks to avoiding the bombs?

That's a guide for bowmen, but it should work well for NLs. Mainly, FJ the fk away.
2nd form, not much you can do about that =/ Just have good reflexes when you attempt to FJ away and chuck stars at pap.

Mainly, I think you need to get used to stop attacking when Pap does its summon animation. If you do an attack when Pap does a summon, the aftercast from attacking is going to prevent you from being able to runaway. Also, make sure not to get stunned or else you're a sitting duck if Pap summons some bombs.

OK, I finally got brave enough to pap again. Here is the results.
I tried to keep my distance the whole fight, and if he did crowd me against the wall I just flash jumped through him. Whenever I saw the bomb animation I just ran the other way. One time he got me in a corner and summoned, I just flash jumped into pap and then fj'ed to safety on the other side. Once the top got filled with bombs it got easier. Eventually I killed the first form.
After the first form died I cleared all the bombs then attacked the second form. Soon after that I solo'ed my first pap.
So by simply keeping your distance from pap and flash jumping or running when you see bombs you can easily survive the fight. The whole problem I was having before was not realizing those bombs have a minimum range, and I kept getting to close to the clock. Once I get my TT a bit higher and can kb pap the fight should get even easier.

second form was a zzz fight. With Dark Site and Flash Jump it didnt come close to hitting me.

Just make sure if your server is on 2x and typically gets laggy around that time to be extra prudent about using DS/ducking.
Otherwise you end up like me, and die halfway through second body because of your DS not taking effect quick enough >:|
