Video editing software? - Rob - 2012-09-04

Hello guys, what's up. I'm looking for a program to edit video (duh). I'd prefer if it's free and lightweight but I can try another stuff. Preferably not Vegas, and no Movie Maker, it crashes with big videos.

Thanks in advance Smile

EDIT: I'm trying now a program called Avidemux... ideas, thoughts?

I prefer Vegas, despite what you say. Premiere Pro (not free) is amazing, but very complex.

I've never heard of avidemux, however....avi is a codec, and demuxing = de-multiplexing.
"a multiplexer (or MUX) is a device that selects one of several analog or digital input signals and forwards the selected input into a single line."

The more you know~

Had been running Premiere Pro for a while. Try this thing called Lightworks? Free open source.

AviDemux is good, but I prefer NanDub / VirtualDub for most stuff, though I had to resort to Avidemux just yesterday to convert a VOB to MP4 for someone who lost their originals.
If you haven't already, doom9.net is a good resource for random stuff.

I have been using video cut pro for a while and its satisfactory. I have not used any other so no idea of others. Is Vegas good enough if I need alternative?
