I saw this on reddit as well. The gameshow is designed to invoke such behaviour, so it's nothing particularly surprising when contestants start stabbing each other in the back for the hanging carrot prize money. I recall avoiding this particular show solely because it was hosted by Jasper Carrott.

To be clear, this is 100k pounds, not dollars. That's closer to 200k USD.
I would've stolen it no matter what, too. Why? Because I don't trust others and I'd rather we both fail than for just them to succeed. At least if they do split and I steal, I can offer them something afterward.
