Is it a guaranteed chance of an extra slot on TOP of hammers? Is it worth 500m?

I don't remember exactly how that works, but I'm almost positive it doesn't add onto hammers, if only because you don't see +10 weapons floating around. Not only that, but it'd be way more than 500m if it worked that way. Anyway, it's not worth the 500m unless your server has a really screwy economy/nx meso ratio.
Edit: Also, to my knowledge only 50% hammers exist, meaning that it's got a 50% chance of success.

i remember using more than 1 50% hammer on an equip in kms till it got extra slot but its been awhile

in KMS, golden hammers are one try only.
the slot can be recovered with slates though.

I tried to use one on an equip that had all slots filled/was hammered twice and it wouldn't allow me to use it.
Tried it on another equip that had all slots filled but wasn't hammered at all and it worked.
It seems to work like a regular hammer, just isn't a cash shop item.
