Physics (Springs) - Corn - 2011-12-19 Alright. So I have a mass (a block if you will) on a floor. It is connected to a horizontal spring, which is connected to another identical horizontal spring, which is connected to the wall. One horizontal spring has a spring constant of k. What is the "k" of the whole spring system (both of the springs?)? The answer is k/2 I believe, but I'm not sure why it is that. If you need me to give the actual whole problem or some of the numbers, sure, but I don't think that is essential. I'm just puzzled over this little bit of information.
