Pretty much.

You'd have been on there a few months ago. Me too probably.

Centenarians of Mardia - DjDisko - 2008-11-02

This is an interesting thread. I don't quiet understand it to be truthful though.

It's quite truthful, it's basic math, using previous historical results to predict future performance.

Ie: if a train moves an approximate average of 5 miles a day for 30 consecutive days it and has 100 miles left to go at the end of that time, it can be inferred that in 20 more days it will arrive at it's destination.

Exact same concept with experience.

But as you level, don't you get stronger and gain more experience per day?

Yes and No, that's on reason things like this have to be re-forecast regularly, because as circumstances change so will the future. Other than that, the data doesn't change that much day over day.

Take Arch Mages for example - A single level doesn't make us kill any faster. Even 5 levels won't give us an improvement of going from say 3 hits ot 2, or 2 to 1. it can take weeks of grinding to get a noticable improvement, so even though true on a fundamental level, the growth rate is slow enough not to be a major blur to the results.

While it's true that the most recent data is more indicative of what the future will be, using an entire month of data smoothes it out because you may not neccessarily be leveling every day anyhow.

The other factor it doesn't take into account is the tendency of people to train in bursts. Like I said before, if you had crunched these numbers from July and August, Luke would have been up there, I probably would have, along with archerdj, ARRJaYRANGER, AsuraLucifer, and a bunch of other bowmasters that are 15x. There was a lot of movement in that little section a few months ago and now there's very little activity with the exception of SlapSticks (he's gonna pass me soon if he hasn't already).

But the 14x's (FeIdt, Sprinkle, SereneCinder, etc) are moving up fast.

I still like the data. Biggrin

That's where weekly reforecasting comes into play.

Half the fun is trying to figure out a way to use all this data meaningfully.
This first post is really more of a sampler/rough draft than anything, trying to figure out which pieces appeal to whom.

So far I'm leaning towards a tiered approach of "Nearest to 200" thing.

So you'd have top 10 nearest to 200, top 10 nearest to 120, top 10 nearest to 130/140/150/175 or similar.

This draft came out stacked too heavily towards the high end and wastes all the data on everyone else. I'd rather post something that gives everyone a goal to move towards

I'd also like to begin identifying the subclasses of more people. Only having a few hundred identified is sad when we've less than 2000 to even worry about. Should be easier to get a handle on who everone is.
