Boots - Avatarded - 2011-08-25 I recently had the opportunity to talk to a high level bowmen for a bit and I raised a question that went unanswered. Which would do more damage, a +2 weapon attack bonus, or +20 dex? This question was raise with, and without consideration to other gear mods. He held firm to the stance that the +2 weapon attack was worth more, and wouldn't offer any kind of explanation. Any help would be appreciated using formulas would be extra nice. Boots - Sorien - 2011-08-25 2 attack should almost always provide less damage than 20 dex for a bowman or gunslinger I believe. Though, if you have a massive amount of dex already (2000 or so, for example), then the attack might provide more damage. I'm feeling too lazy to go and crunch the numbers for which is better under which circumstances right now, but 20 dex should give more damage than 2 attack unless you're funded beyond belief. Boots - Raul - 2011-08-25 Depends if it's from scrolling or pot. If you have any %dex, and it's from scrolling, I think it's definitely better. Weapon Multiplier * ((4 * Primary Stat) + Secondary Stat) * (Attack / 100) So, say you have 20 str and 1000 total dex. You also have a perfect 150 attack VIP bow (a gift from a friend). You don't have any WG's or weapon attack on any other equips. Formula: 1.15*((4*1000)+20)*(150/100) 1.15*4020*1.5 6935 That's what we'll use as your base attack. 20 dex+1000 dex=1020 dex. 1.15*((4*1020)+20)*(150/100) 1.15*4100*1.5 7073 2 att+150 att=152att. 1.15*((4*1000)+20)*(152/100) 1.15*4020*1.52 7027 As you can see, even with no %dex, 20 dex is quite a bit better than 2 attack. Boots - Avatarded - 2011-08-25 Thanks, that's what I thought. I was asking him about his face stompers by comparison to the class boots, if he had scrolled for Jump the dex difference would be about that before vicious hammers. The face stompers had no potential and as higher level boots they have better potential options, but that'd be making this comparison massively over complicated. In theory-craft I was always taught the "go big or go home" approach. Boots - FrothyFrog - 2011-09-10 Avatarded Wrote:Thanks, that's what I thought.
