Best weapon potential? 21% of stats vs 15% of stats - Majora - 2011-07-12

I know there isn't really an answer of what the best potential for a weapon is, as it comes down to preference but I'm really wondering what route I should take for my current weapon. I'm not really into bossing too much, I'd rather have a potential for everything.

My current my potential is 6% all, 9% attack, and 6% total damage. My question is this: Is 15% total damage better than that potential and if it is, WHY?

I'm hitting more than I've ever hit before, and I know it must be the 6% total damage, at least I'm guessing it is. Can 9% atk and 6% all really match 9% total damage more?

Thanks for your help, it's always appreciated!

%atk is basically equal to %total damage. So really the best line on that is the 9% attack...

And yes, 9% atk and 6% all makes it better than 9% total damage.

% atk and total damage are virtually the same thing. The difference is that % atk does not affect apples/other sources of wep atk making total damage slightly better. Also the only time it makes a real difference is if you have shadow partner because total damage is accounted twice for shadow partner, meaning it is WAY better for thieves.

I'm getting mixed answers from the Basil population, but then again it IS the Basil population. Half of the responses are like "lol hi cool weapz" and what not.

I'm pretty sure post-big bang %atk stacks with attack potions.

confirming it here, and with buffs too.

I could be wrong but there was a reason that made % atk diff slightly worse than total damage and that was the first thing that popped up in my head.

Edit: ah it was because it rounds down.
Here's a sample damage formula: 1.20*(4 * STR + DEX) * (Weapon Attack / 100)
Ex. 6% Atk:
147 atk x 1.06=155.82 -> 155 which is the wep atk in the damage formula
Assuming str = 2000 and dex = 150
1.20*(4 * 2000+ 150) * (155 / 100) = 15996 damage with regular attack

Whereas 6% total damage:
Using the same stats as above
1.20*(4 * 2000+ 150) * (147/ 100) = 15170.4 ->15170
15170 x 1.06=16080

Actual difference in this situation:
(16080/15996)= 1.005 or total damage is 0.5% stronger than % atk
