A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - FelixTM - 2011-05-03

Hello again! I'm Kyle, the gentleman who will be guiding you through this adventure. I'll write stuff, give you some options and you say which one you want. It's that simple. Reading and playing along with your fellow Southperrians is all part of the fun. Don't be lazy! It's a game, and you need to find out how to reach the end.

Basics:

1) I write stuff. Give you options. Pick which you want.
2) First option to five votes (always subject to change) wins.
3) I write more stuff.
4) Story continues until you reach a DEAD END or one of the multiple "real" endings (GOOD, BAD + TRUE).
5) If a DEAD END is hit, you'll be regiven the previous options (minus the one that just led you down the bad road) and resume from there.

Guidelines:

1) Comments are ALWAYS welcome! And encouraged. Discussion with your fellow members is fun (to me anyway) and may be one of the best ways to figure stuff out.
2) Figuring stuff out is important!
3) You can try to sway other members' votes to what you desire. Feel free. However, once a majority is established, it is automatically locked in.
4) Check the Inventory at the end of every Entry frequently. Items you acquire throughout the story will be vital to how things unfold.
5) Pay attention to small details but keep in mind I will include many irrelevant details, too.
6) Sometimes a lot can be learned from a DEAD END. Think about it.

Boring stuff:

1) This is a story, too, but please don't dwell on the finer aspects of writing, such as grammar. I do quite well on my own, but it's not going to be perfect. If you want to point out glaring mistakes, feel free (I appreciate it), but I don't care about it being PERFECT. Just ignore the smaller errors (or let me find them eventually).

2) I work full time, so updates will almost always come between 4:00 PM central - 12:00 AM central on the weekdays. The weekend is free game. Any time. All day. Usually. And of course this always assumes a majority decision has been reached by the time I want to write. Often I'll write multiple parts if decisions are made quickly.

3) This is a story created solely for Southperry. Obviously don't post it anywhere else... lol No seriously, why would you do that? Don't. It's also strictly for the summer. I'm not going to let it overwhelm me again and never end. Let's just have some fun during the miserable hot months of the year.

The Man Who Stared Into The Void

Chapter 1: "And Lost Himself"

#1

. . .

"It's...cold."

The man opens his eyes for the first time. Slowly getting to his feet, he stares into the total darkness. Lost. Everywhere around him is foreign. Inside him, too, is foreign. He searches his mind, more desperately as the minutes pass. Lost, again. The man can't remember anything. His life doesn't exist. No past. No future. He falls to the ground once he can no longer take the pressure. The present is all he can cling to now. Moving on...is the only option.

The man wanders aimlessly for several hours. But to him, he could have been years. Darkness is all the eyes can see. He listens for sounds and finds only a quiet dripping. The smell is dank. His hands never come across anything blocking the way. Vast emptiness. He bends down repeatedly to feel the ground, but it only adds to his confusion. Hard and cold, mostly. Sometimes it is like rock, but others it is almost like...tile.

A sudden loud noise causes him to spin around! Human. His heart is racing for the first time. Feeling returns to his body, and he starts to run. The sound doesn't return. It doesn't return. He stops running, realizing now it could be dangerous. Fear grips his body. It's not like waking up anymore. He doesn't know what to do! Why can't he remember who he is? Why can't he remember how he got here? The dripping soothes him, if only for a second. Enough to catch his attention. It's closer now.

And then it happens again, tearing through the dark silence: a scream. Farther away, but undeniably similar. Could there be someone in here? Or maybe he's in danger. Maybe someone else is in danger. The fear begins to turn into determination. He wants answers, so he decides to start by . . .

---

A) Heading toward the scream.
B) Heading toward the dripping.
C) Ignoring both and heading away from them.
D) Remaining still and continuing to take in his surroundings.

Oh wow, a FelixTM story again! I'm excited about this, not going to vote since majority has been reached for a while now.

Huge open space with no walls/pillars (that he reached) and a smooth floor O.o, the dripping makes it clear there is some wall/ceiling so it's not completely open.
Screams are scary, well, we'll find out about it.

Like he said, sometimes the bad endings can teach us things, and what better way to teach us to not be impulsive than to wreck our pomegranate right out of the gate?

I'm personally heading towards the scream because of it's similarity to how we feel at the moment.

. . . heading toward the scream.

The man remains still for a moment to focus on the screaming. Certain of the direction now, he rushes forward. The noise grows increasingly more horrific as he approaches. His determination quickly reverts into fear. The screaming stops. A faint voice...moaning. And then silence. Cold sweat saturates his body. He struggles to keep his breathing down. Something isn't right. Quiet footsteps can be heard heading in the opposite direction. The man tries to follow the new sound, but something catches him much more off guard: a foreign feeling beneath his feet. It's not hard or smooth but moist...and slippery. Another few steps, and he's forced to a sudden stop.

Unmistakeably, a body. A human body.

Startled, the man backs up and slips in the liquid on the ground. He flails around trying to get back to his feet, with no luck. And then it dawns on him what he's sitting in... The body's blood. His mind screams for panic, but he manages to calm himself. If someone was just murdered here, he could be next. The man listens carefully for any trace of the footsteps, but they are gone. Complete silence once more.

Seconds pass like hours as the man sits quietly in the pool of fresh blood. Finally, after deeming it safe to move again, he examines the mysterious body next to him with his hands. His fingers discover several stab wounds... He cringes but forces himself to continue. It's definitely another male. Roughly the same age, though he can't be certain. And then, next to the fallen body, his fingers discover something wonderful: a backpack. The man grabs the backpack and hops to his feet. After taking another moment to listen for footsteps, he dashes off into the darkness.

Once the man feels he is far enough away from the scene of the murder, he sits down to carefully examine his newfound possession. Inside the backpack, he discovers what appears to be two liquid-filled bottles, three bar-sized food products, a small locked book and a flashlight. Filled with new hope, he . . .

Sorry for the early delay! Been pretty brain melty the past couple days. Had one entry going, but I discarded it. This is better!

Plus it's the weekend now so we can really get this ball rolling for real.

Shall we?

Oh, and gonna try first to SEVEN votes this time. Just experimenting.
