% Total Damage and % Attack - Goals - 2010-10-26

I'm not really good at Math so I don't know how to calculate these two % bonuses. Let's say you set all variables equal in the damage range formula for say, a Corsair. Which would yield a larger effect on total damage, 4% Total Damage or 8% Attack?

Since % Attack is dependent on total Weapon Attack while % Total Damage is an outside multiplier, apparently, do I need to list my stats or is it possible to calculate the previous question without my stats?

8% atk wins in both situations -- with or without apples. Unless you have like 99 total atk, lulz.

So you're implying that % Attack has an equal effect on damage as % Total Damage if total attack > 100?

1.5* [(4*dex+str) * (attack/100)(1.08 % attack)] = 1.5* [(4*dex+str) * attack/100] * 1.08 (% total damage)

Not sure if I have this right, but since attack is always divided by 100, I assume you're talking about the effect of % attack.

Pretty sure it's always damage that wins out in every case. Even % dex beats out %attack for my sair ._.

Me and my friend had really similar weapons

119 bow (X% total damage) mine
and his 118 bow (X% atk)
(I forgot the variable but it was the same but my bow was 1 atk higher)

we did some testing to see which was better, his bow always did 1k more damage then mine with 1 arrow of hurricane
I always thought Total Damage would be better but I guess not ()I did this test like 2 months ago)

No, % damage and %atk individually are the same, except not really.
- They are the same because you can only get them once on a weapon.
- They are different because %atk does not factor in apples and ammo, while %damage does.

If you have less than 100atk, with apple, it doubles your atk, but %atk only affects half of your total atk, thus resulting in half the potential boost on output damage. %dmg covers the entire thing.
Why 100? Because 100 = 1/2*200; and in your example: 4% = 1/2*8%.

Total base att - projectile att (ammo/stars/arrows) = x

floor(x * (1 + % attack)) + att buff/pot + projectile att = y = your attack in normal situation

y/(total base att + att buff/pot) - 1 = overall % bonus; solve for this and you get the equivalent % damage translation for your % attacks.

And actually I've heard that % damage don't stack with another % damage, but attacks do. No solid proof though has been seen yet.

^ Thank you very much.

I followed your calculations to find that with my current stats, 8% Attack will equal 5% Total Damage on Apple, which is greater than 4% Total Damage.

The more buffs you have, such as Echo, -that attack buff for Sairs on ship Post-BB-, Apples, and ammo will all cause % Attack to have a diminishing effect right?
