Short Guide on Anniversary Balloons - larmie - 2010-09-28
So I figure since I see very little on how these things works, I'll make a guide of it before I forget. GMS may not even get the thing but we'll see.
If anyone wants to chime in from KMS and post something about them, please do.
[SIZE="3"]Confirmed facts[/SIZE]
- The balloons spawn in select maps (not all like it says in the event description) in the same location. Finding out where they spawn is crucial to finding them efficiently. Balloons spawned all over the Maple World except World Tour, mini dungeons and event maps.
- Some balloons cannot be reached by any jobs.
- Balloon drops can be picked up by anyone.
- More than one balloon spawns in the exact same location. (3 have been confirmed) To check, use a mobbing skill or a weapon with an effect. If multiple misses show up or the weapon's effect is (partially) hidden, there are more than one balloon there.
- Shadow Partner and Dual Stab will work. Night Lords and Shadowers will get two hits; Dual Blades will get four.
- Ducking and attacking with a maple weapon and booster is the fastest for most jobs.
- The balloons may spawn on killing another monster in the map. (usually it's just there when you enter) Looking for balloons in maps with other time spawns is ideal.
[SIZE="3"]Observations[/SIZE]
- The balloons spawn approximately six minutes apart if it respawned. Leaving the balloon spawned may increase the odds of the second spawning.
- 2x drop has effect.
- Balloons which constantly have more than two spawned will have normal drops while balloons which respawn continuously (only one or two balloon spawn at a time) will have lower drops than others.
- The balloons will only spawn in maps with players in them (this seems stupid as the balloon spawns immediately after someone enters the map). Two or more players being in the map increases the spawn rate.

Ice Valley 2: Second platform from the bottom
Valley of Snowman: Left side of the bridge
Sharp Cliff 1: Left side of the second platform from the bottom
Dangerous Cliff: Second platform from the bottom
Wold Territory 5: Second (First?) bridge from the bottom
Forest of Dead Tree 4: Left side of the right platform
Dead Mine 1: Left side of the right-top platform
Cave of Trial 1: Right side of the left-most platform excluding the one you stand on when you enter (you can only see the basket)
Orbis Tower
Orbis Tower 1st Floor: Near the small platforms in the center
Orbis Tower 4th Floor: Near the bottom
Orbis Tower 8th Floor: Near the Statue NPC
Orbis Tower 9th Floor: Near the bottom

Cloud Park 4: Center-right platform (the platform right of the one above the house)
Cloud Park 5: Center-right platform (the two o'clock platform on the lower circular group of platforms)

By the way the longest single balloon run (single location) was 10 hours, 30 minutes at Ice Valley 2. Broke around 60~80 balloons and dropped around 30 maple weapons and ~10 scrolls. People constantly dropping in from El Nath might have aggressively triggered spawning *shrug* Be prepared for a long run if there's more than three or four of them
