Good Maplestory Recording Program? - OB3LISK - 2010-09-06
Hey guys. I saw a certain video and got totally jealous, and I want to make videos on maplestory.
I've downloaded Fraps and Hypercam. The problem with Fraps is that it's only 30 seconds, and the lag is killer. I don't really want to pay $37 for the full version though.. The problem with Hypercam is that it can't record full screen games.

And also, I'm seeming to have a problem viewing the videos. Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker both show black screens when I try to view them, no matter how many options/settings I try to change. I downloaded "VCL" and it works to show the video, but the color is distorted. VCL does it's job of letting me see the video before I upload it, but I also wanted to edit videos. Without Windows Movie Maker though I can't.
Any advice on how to fix that black screen or another editting thingie?

Camtasia was free for a short period of time - if you can find that free version somewhere then that apparently works fairly well.
The most popular alternative I would think of is Camstudio, but that was intended for screen recording in general and not game recording. You'll have to play with the frame rate until it's smooth. I can't remember if I had the same lag as I had with Fraps back when I tried Camstudio. It's free and worth a shot I guess.
There are other ones like WeGames and XFire that will record for you, though I don't know too much about them.

Ive never used Xfires video capture, I have broadcasted once or twice... It looked pretty good.
Personally, I just use Fraps. I have a full version and it works very well.

If viewed in Full Screen are pretty high quality, and since the video is compressed it doesn't take up much memory.
