I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Kawasari Mimoto - 2010-01-16 In the past, from High School, to College, and then to University, I've had people saying about how I'm surprisingly mature during serious discussions, debates, etc. So I ask people what they mean when they say that. Everybody who's criticized me about how I behave has said the same thing: "Even the simplest of things can amuse you, you're like a child at heart." Is that supposed to be a good thing? I mean, I realize I'm pretty giddy at times (irl+online), and I can be mature if the situation is dire or demands it. But apparently, as my close friends perceives me, they think of me as a child inside a young-adult body because I'm still fascinated by the simplest of things. Or I can get excited over a small minor thing. So apparently, I either have: a) Dual-personalities or b) A child-complex Because I can act like a kid a lot of the times. I get along with pretty much everyone in my social-group (close knit-tight buncha friends), and I have no problems interacting with random strangers I have met through classes, work, etc. In fact, the typical person sees me as friendly or overly nice during 1st encounter. But I think my child-like personality can sometimes hold me back because at times, I wish I was more calm. My girlfriend the other week or so told me I'm like a child, but she thinks it's adorable. Are any of you guys childlike in personality even if you're like.. 20+? Because I still do the typical kid stuff: -Wake up on Saturday mornings, hoping to see KIDS WB on, but nothing good is ever on TV anymore. Ever. -Play video games way too much, but not to the point in which it's an obsessive-illness or disorder (Yes, gaming-addiction is sorta considered as an illness [debatable], but psychologists/sociologists and other researchers are planning on considering it AS an illness in the nearby future) -Thinks like a child and laughs at pretty much everything I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - y0y0y0y0shi0 - 2010-01-16 In my case, I would take that as a compliment. An 18 year old who finds enjoyment in shows like Arthur? Hell yeah. If you act like a kid, know it, and like acting like a kid, I would honestly take that as a compliment. You seem a lot like my older sister, who watches Saturday morning cartoons, laughs at everything, and plays video games but never gets to the point where she can beat me. (Last part's a bit different) I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Bacon - 2010-01-16 I don't like childish behavior, especially from a macho macho macho man like you. I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Solarboy - 2010-01-16 Its double personality, and as far as you know how to act acording to the situation, it will be a good thing
I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Worthyness - 2010-01-16 I'd consider child-like mid-set a good thing. Children are free from certain limitations we, as adults, seem to care about a lot. I've learned growing up isn't always the most exciting thing in the world, but it's something we have to do. Childrens' mindset means they are free to explore the outstanding possibilities that we lose sight of when we turn to adults. That's not to say that all adults change their mindsets, and it is these types of people that advance our technology and world possibilities. I say kudos to you who can enjoy the little intricacies of life. On another note, learning to balance when and where to use such a mindset is the key to living a fulfilling life in my opinion o_O I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Will - 2010-01-16 Remind me of my brother, except you seem way more mature. I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Heidi - 2010-01-16 I tend to be quite immature and giggly and silly at times. I spend a lot of time watching anime, playing games (like pokemon), giggling (Though I'm not in any actual social groups), driving my friends crazy by being silly (Spaz, n, Lyssa if you see this then I'm sure you'll know what I mean ). Oh, and I nearly forgot... a lot of the time I'm in my room I'm cuddling my stuffed toys *has one balanced on the top of her head right now*But when it comes to university and serious discussions, I am a lot more mature. I'm questioning on whether this is a good or a bad thing.. - Russt - 2010-01-16 As long as you get to be serious when the situation demands it (seems like you do), I would say it isn't bad at all. It's nice just to chill. |
