Inviting friends over... - Zephyr - 2010-01-10

With all the topic I've been making lately make me see i might be a little if not too much anti social, but this made me think more...

A girl i know, a friend of mine, not exactly best friends or anything, said why i don't invite her over to my house so we can play wii, i only said no, because, i don't know... i pulled some lame "My brother is an pimento and i wouldn't like you guys being here along with him because it might be annoying..." but when i though about it, i couldn't really explain it... yeah my brother is annoying but thats not the only reason...

I just feel weird when i think about it, invite someone over, introduce them to my parents and brother, have to play or do stuff while my younger brother is around, my parents might ask questions (even though i know they wont but i still feel like they will >_<) ugh i don't know really, maybe I'm WAY too insecure of myself even though i try not to... but hell... for example i began drinking alcohol like 2 years ago (I'm almost 21 now) and i still feel embarrassed when i tell my parents i do drink, even though they don't care, even my dad offers me drinks and I'm like no thanks, why, because i feel like that...

I just don't know... I'm too insecure now that i realize it, maybe not antisocial... argh now I'm confused... now its just hard to put my though together, yeah I'm insecure of myself, but HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT TO SOMEONE... hell, i bet that girl was like "wtp is wrong with you, are we friends or what", i can't just explain this feeling of... guilt maybe?... shame? i don't know...

How about trying to come over to their place first for a start? I find it easier to bark in someone's house, make a mess and leave than invite them over and clean up after their mess later.

Thinking toooo much might be bad.
Just chill and learn to care a bit less about what everyone else think or says.

You'll never know what happens until you try. Invite them over, there's no harm in that. You'll see what it's like and then decide if you liked it and want to do it again.

Just go for it and many lucks to you!

I personally dont invite friends over because of a few reasons:

1. My house is a mess. Simply put, its really messy, and there's very little space, if any...we're much better off at someone else's place, either because they have a bigger place, or because their places are cleaner, etc.
2. There's nothing to do at my house. My tv's old and unconveniently placed (it'll be hard to hook up gaming consoles, etc.) Again, kinda like the first one.
3. There's too many restrictions. My sister and parents sleep early. That combined with 1 makes it hard to do anything.

That being said, when I move out, I'd definitely open up my place to friends if they DO want to come over. I do occasionally go over to friend's houses. Their parents are there, but they leave my friends and I alone for the most part (other than wanting to hear me play piano, which I willingly do).

It's normal to be self-conscious, everyone is like that at one point or another. However, it is when you get over it that you start enjoying and having fun.
