So tonight I put my nostalgiaf'ag hat on and went looking for my favourite childhood movies. My childhood was the 90s, where movies weren't tainted with the inevitable dribble they have these days. I'ma share some of my favourites, and you can share some of yours. Because music is such a big thing in my life, a trend with mine is they're mostly musicals, but hey, musicals are some of the greatest movies of all time (piss off Kanye West).
Possibly my all time favourite movie would have to be Mary Poppins. I will always watch it when it is on T.V. and I wish Disney still made 'em like this one. The story is great, the actors are great, and I love the music. Julie Andrews is one of the most fantastic voices of all time. I am extremely happy that today's Disney 'stars' and their computer-aided singing haven't slaughtered any of the songs like they have with some other classics. Another one I loved, and no doubt you have all heard of it, is the Wizard of Oz. I've forgotten most of the 90s, but like Mary Poppins, the Wizard of Oz is a movie that will always stick with me. I even remember some of the nightmares I had about the Wicked Witch of the West. One of my favourite moments from the movie would definitely be Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I like this song so much that I sung it for a test at my university (and got a perfect score
). This song is so good that not even modern interpretations (Eva Cassidy, that Hawaiian guy etc.) can taint my memories. Judy Garland's voice is beautiful, and so is her acting.

Another gem, that I'm not sure everyone will know because I don't know how big a thing it was, was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This movie will also be another movie that always sticks with me. The songs aren't musically fantastic like Judy or Julie, but they aren't bad either. They are modest songs, songs that don't look like they're TRYING to be like Feed the Birds or Somewhere Over the Rainbow. However, they're still catchy and memorable. One of my favourites is:

I took it as that they were introduced to it in the 90's. Just like how I can say I remembered Tom and Jerry as a kid, and I wasn't born when it was created.
Also, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was epic. My nostalgia? Mel Fking Brooks. I remember my dad trying to 'censor' Spaceballs with a VHS player. I lol'd back then and I still lol now.
