What's the New EXP formula - finalbragade - 2009-11-15 I know it's at a 8/2 rate but i think there's more detail then that... also what's the old formula What's the New EXP formula - Russt - 2009-11-15 thread Quote:Leech conditions: Only one of the following must be met in order to share a cut of party EXP I would assume that the 0.8 and 0.2 are switched in the new formula or something. And yes I do realize that my wording there isn't the clearest... I'd fix, but I'm too lazy. Edit: See. Someone would do it for me anyway. Thanks Dusk. What's the New EXP formula - Dusk - 2009-11-15 Oh shet ninja'd by Russt himself - rest of post still applies Not everyone understands formulas, so I'll type it out in words. Ignore the 'party portion of exp," that only applies when members of more than one party is attacking the same monster. Within a single party, whenever a monster is killed, one person gets credit for the kill. This person is usually the one that did the most damage, although sometimes that can be screwed with with skills like Poison Myst and Heaven's Hammer. That person always gets a base percentage of the monster's exp, before anyone else gets a share. Right now, that number is 20%. After the change, it will be 40%. After that, the rest of the exp is divided between the entire party (INCLUDING the person that already got a share) based on what level they are. It doesn't matter how much damage they did, only what level they are compared to the rest of the party. The fraction that they get is calculated by (member's level)/(total party level). So say you have a party with a level 60 and a level 40, and the level 60 kills a monster that gives 300 exp. The total party level is 100. Current system: 1. The level 60 gets 20% of 300. 60 exp is deducted from 300, leaving 240 exp to be split. 2. The level 60 gets 60/100*240 of the split exp, which is 144. This is added to the 60 they already got. 3. The level 40 gets 40/100*240 of the split exp, which is 96. 4. Both players get 10% bonus exp for being in a party of 2. The level 60 ends up with (60+144)*1.10 = 224 exp. The level 40 ends up with 96*1.10 = 105 exp. New system: 1. The level 60 gets 40% of 300. 120 exp is deducted from 300, leaving 180 exp to be split. 2. The level 60 gets 60/100*180 of the split exp, which is 108. This is added to the 120 they already got. 3. The level 40 gets 40/100*180 of the split exp, which is 72. 4. Both players get 10% bonus exp for being in a party of 2. The level 60 ends up with (120+108)*1.1 = 250 exp. The level 40 ends up with 72 exp. Under the current system the level 40 would get 171 exp for a kill and the level 60 would leech 158. Under the new system the level 40 would get 211 exp for a kill and the level 60 would leech 118. The new system doesn't really affect exp gain whenever all party members are killing at similar speeds, but if you have one person pulling most of the weight, they will now gain a much bigger share of the exp. So in other words its how it should have been from the start. I might start playing MS again if GMS gets this, got tired of all the little kids that leeched to high levels stealing my maps left and right. What's the New EXP formula - Russt - 2009-11-16 Well in the past leechers would share 80% of the EXP, now (according to Dusk) they share 60%. It's not a huge difference. Oh wait I think I have it wrong then. I remember someone saying leeching got halved, so it may actually be that the initial share gets changed from 20% to 60%, not 40%. EXP received by the highest damager = EXP to be split * (0.6 + 0.4 * Player level / Total party level) * Party bonus EXP received by other party members = EXP to be split * (0.4 * Player level / Total party level) * Party bonus Leeching will be cut in half. Woohoo~ What's the New EXP formula - PwNeR88 - 2009-11-16 As long as leeching is available, it'll still be done. >_> What's the New EXP formula - IllegallySane - 2009-11-16 PwNeR88 Wrote:As long as leeching is available, it'll still be done. >_> Just the very fact it takes twice as long detracts leeching at 4th job and beyond, because when you cut leeching in 1/2 at such a high level training is, and quickly becomes, leagues faster than rope humping. Let's also consider BF/Anego leeching. Getting ~800,000 EXP from Anego instead of ~1,600,000 is sure to rage lots of people. Getting ~500,000 EXP from Bigfoot instead of ~1,000,000. It may not seem much, but basically forcing leechers to pay double what they used to pay before in order to get the same amount of EXP is a swift and unfunny kick in the crotch. It'll also greatly discourage those dang leechers who equip the Spirit Pendant. My god, 1.2 (party EXP with Holy Symbol) x 4 x 1.3 = x6.24 EXP at Skeles compared to x4.8; broken much? Yes there will still be leeching even after the fix, but it'll at least get people to question whether to train or to leech, and not just go LOL-LEECH-IS-SO-FAST-I-THROW-TEN-MILLION-MESOS-AN-HOUR-TO-AFK-AND-COME-BACK-WITH-OVER-NINE-THOUSAND-LEVELS!! When the leecher only gains ~2-3 levels instead of ~5-6 levels after paying for 4 hours of leech, you can bet the leechers will be all up in arms about having to spend twice as much NX to leech now, since most leechers are just people who have too much NX on their hands. Though I don't sell leech, I can totally see the profit of the business. I wish I weren't so strict with my own codes of conduct.

EDIT: I borrowed these posts btw. xD What's the New EXP formula - Chameleonic - 2009-11-16 As long as I'm still able to leech a second char of my own (when I lv a bshop and am able to do so) I dont really care. So long as one gets exp from anothers kill there will be leech. Yet the leech is slower than before. 50% slower to be exact. I never said leech will be gone, but think again from the leecher's point of view. I can at least prove buying leech suddenly got a whole lot less efficient Even if leechers still buy leech at the level that they do now, at 8-10m mesos an hour for what will be ~3-4m EXP an hour (guessing this will be the post-EXP formula number on 1x speed) instead of ~6-8m an hour, this is an insane amount to pay just for a somewhat higher EXP rate than you can get by soloing at 90-11x, and a very laughable amount (i.e. a complete waste of mesos) at 12x and beyond. If leechers still think rope humping is fast, fine with me. At least my A/M guildies can still get money and not get completely shafted as being a poor class by blowing 7k MP per Ultimate. ![]() *Looking at this, I can see Ultimate leeching taking a small hit, and boss leeching becoming more popular than before. Oh god.... I won't be able to find Pianus anymore if I want to look for Sharp Eyes for the hell of it.
