Well I woke up this morning and found that I sold my Berserk 20 skill book for 225m. I didn't really think it would sell but a few days ago i saw some guy sell a Gen 20 for 350m, so I was bored and felt like trying it for fun. The shop title was: "cheap zerk 30." So I'm just wondering, is this scamming or not?

Yes, it's bait and switch scamming. While it's the buyer's fault for not paying close attention, that much is true for all scams. You specifically tried to trick people into buying something by giving them the impression it was something else. Again, it's such an obvious scam to check for that it's mostly their fault for buying it, but again it's still pretty low a thing to do.

It's not as wicked as some other scams might be, but you deliberately swindled someone out of their money.

Buyer's fault completely. You may have deliberately jacked up the price but you didn't deliberately swindled someone of the money... that is if you never intended to sell it for that price.

Look at the screen. The store is titled zerk 30. It's obvious that the intent was to trick a buyer into believing it was zerk30, not 20.

There'd be no problem if your shop wasnt titled "Serk 30", but as it was, then yes this is scamming (as others have already said).

Sure, its the buyer's fault for buying it, but you can say that for all scams. "It's afsd123's fault for buying leech from a guy with -243 fame" or "It's xfgew987's fault for not knowing prices before believing some random dude who traded him in fm's offer".

Heck, even if you were trying to say Serk 20 and accidently typed 30 (2 and 3 ARE next to each other after all!), it'd still look like a scam regardless of how much you try to protest it.

What Im confused is why you felt a need to try it after seeing someone else have it work...O_o

I would have to agree, the title of your store makes all the difference in whether or not that it's a scam.

Dishonest? Completely.

Reminds me of when Nexon released these super cheap Cash Shop items that lasted only a few days. Not everybody goes on the main site for the details, and people normally expect Cash Shop clothes to expire after 90 days. My friend Rocky fell for this "scam" >:[

Yeah, I think it's unanimous. This is scamming, regardless if it was really of ill intent or not. If your title wasn't misleading and someone just bought it on their own, then I wouldn't consider it a scam.

Not sure what you wanna do from there though. I mean, I wouldn't let it weigh down on my conscience, but I'm a pretty twisted person with a unique sense of morals.

i remember awhile ago back when ilbies were still pushing 30M there would be ppl Smegaing "S> tons of ilbies 5M each come FM XX ch XX and buy fast" and out of curiosity i went there one or 2 times and each time they just had subis up for 5M and back then GM's actually used to go to that fm and would ban the person if they tried doing this. gd bless the days when gm's seemed to care Big Grin

I've seen that a million times.... smegas like "I quit, Cilbis 10m each"
Then you go there to set a shop to take advantage of the mob, look at the full shop that normally says "hold enter and click" and there's 1000 arrows in each space for 10m each, worst thing is that people fall for it, some people make like 60m doing that, then use the 60m to buy another smega and do it again the next day.

Are you sure that was the GM banning? Because if you boot someone from your shop, they get a message like "The user has been banned" or something, but it's just Nexon's poor translation trying to tell you that you're booted from the store.

Usually the scammers do that so they can keep new buyers (suckers) circulating into the store. If the same 3 people stay in the store leaving comments like "lol, scammer", then the scammer is missing out on potential buyers (suckers). So they constantly kick people who enter the shop. If they didn't fall for it at first glace, they're not going to fall for it, and have no purpose to be loitering the shop.
