Castlevania homebrews - Providence - 2009-10-29

I haven't been more entertained while getting my ass handed to me in quite some time. If you're a fan of Castlevania or generally drawn to fighters (with RPG elements), I found a game up yer alley. Castlevania Fighter is a mugen 2D fighter based on various Castlevania characters and enemies. It features a variety of options, custom spritework, versus and co-op modes (though I've yet to see if this entails online play), ten characters (from Simon Belmont to a freaking Axe Armor), intense gameplay, and it's 100% free. It's still being worked on, but the current download is completely playable. I've yet to encounter a glitch.

Another site to check for Castlevania homebrews would be "Castlevania Dungeon", which hosts a variety of enthusiasts, both players and programmers alike. I haven't quite looked to far into it yet, but I plan to. You can find videos of some of their projects using Youtube (searching "castlevania homebrew" would be a good start).

Seconding this. For something that was made by one guy, it's made pretty well. Think of it as a boss rush mode but with PERSEPHONES.
