Im not much of a speech maker and I havent made very many in my life but here were a few things that I found helped:

1. Find things that are motivational and ask yourself, "Why does it touch a nerve in me?" "Why do I find it motivating?", "What elements of the speech makes it a good speech?"
2. The topic of your speech has to be something you feel passionate about and/or something you know a lot about. It helps as it flows more easily then and you can improv it if something goes wrong or add things on during the speech. You cant get others to find meaning in your speech if you cant find meaning yourself.
3. Look at other famous speeches. Identify what in them made them good and imitate it (not copy but try to emulate it). For example, what's so great about Elizabeth I's speech before the Spanish Armada, Henry V's speech in the Shakespeare play, Winston Churchill in WWII? Well, they all appealed to the people. They united the people under a cause that everyone felt was worth fighting for, they all spoke it as if they were part of these men, not above them commanding them, etc.

As I said, Im not much of a speech maker, here's one I made on my blog after winning the nexon Web Event with my video: http://retalion.wordpress.com/2008/06/12/official-statement/#more-218

And here is one of my all time favorite speeches: Jimmy V at the 1993 Espys (He was dying of cancer and won the Arthur Ashe award): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePXlkqkFH6s

Hope this helps ^^

I think your speech should reflect upon yourself as well.
Your attitude should shine through your speech for it to seem natural.
I.E. In Speeches I give I tend to use a bit of humor- Keep it light.
Even if it is a heavy subject (OH NO! Holocaust) you have to keep your audience entertained AND informed.
Also Consider body Language, Positioning, etc.

Quick question, who is your audience and what occassion is this speech for? There's a giant difference in making a speech for a funeral versus thinking of a speech to use for someone else's wedding.
