People like that are going too far =X Yes black people were treated unfairly in the past but going this far is, in my opinion manipulating and abusing the equality they now have.

The equality of races was "won over" through lots of hard work and perserverance and to see people use it like this is an insult to those who worked so hard to get it =X

Race is always a touchy issue and if this post offends someone, Im sorry for it and will edit it/change it to be less "controversial" if need be >_>

Not to sound racist. But have you guys ever listened to how a black guy talks about a white guy? Every other word is a racist term towards white people, and you cant call them on it for being racist without yourself being called a racist X_X

Our society is still racist, and racism will always exist. But on the other hand, calling things black or w/e isn't racist..People do need to get over themselves sometimes...They talked about this on The View(don't laugh,I watch it) and how the terms went for black people from Slaves to Ni...Ers to Black to African American..

this is, at least IMO, why being PC is the downfall of society.
personally, if i was a black guy, id rather be called black then "african american," simply because that, at least for me, it'd imply that the person thinks of me as a fresh-off-the-boat african who cant understand basic english..=/

Being overly race-sensitive is as bad as racism itself.

Has anyone else ever noticed that while whites are referred to as "white," blacks are referred to as "African Americans?" Often you'll see "white" and "African American" on the same paper form. There is actually a politically correct term for whites, namely "Caucasian." But it's not frequently used.

That in itself is racist, because the juxtaposition suggests that blacks are entitled to more respect in language than whites are. But in fact, both "African American" and "Caucasian" are bullshit, because the vast majority of blacks in America are native-born, and can trace their American lineage back many generations in this country, (which is precisely what allows them to voice their grievances in the first place.) Actual "African Americans" cannot complain about slavery or segregation because neither they nor their ancestors were in America when those took place. As for "Caucasian," that refers to a very specific and minor group of people, and referring to all whites as Caucasians is inaccurate.

In other words, political correctness is utter bullshit, and should be summarily thrown out. But if you don't throw it out, use it consistently. I have never met anyone who used "African American" and "white" who was able to explain to me why he should not use "Caucasian instead."

I actually had a friend in elementary school (who was a black girl my age - we were 8 or 9 at the time) tell me that she preferred being called "black" to being called "African American." Her parents were from Jamaica, and her family had been Jamaican for several generations, and so she felt like she identified with the Jamaican culture - not the African American culture.

I think a lot of people just take things too far - about most subjects, really. For every respectable person who's doing a good job promoting equality and African American culture (and yes, there are quite a few of those), there's some idiot out there spouting about how black holes are racist. It just goes to show that there are idiots in every culture.

Considering a White Hole is something different, the guy is still a plantain.

Its not like we're calling them Nigger Holes or anything. Its just political correctness raising its pesky head again, where it has no need to.

On that note...
In high School we had a black kid from New Zealand in some of my classes..
He got into an argument with an "African American" and somehow the New Zealander got called an African American.
He literally went crazy and beat teh pomegranate out the other kid.
Yelling awkward racial profanities AND Anti-american ones.
I found it hilarious.
