I like how Maple Story has no story.

That's a good one. Never thought about it that way.

The thing is, there is no one story and you don't even have to take place in it at all. I fully knew about Isaac's long post about how Maple has a story, but the story is not out there enough to fully qualify in my mind.

Is that it takes away our own stories.

*failed attempt*

I like how maplestory closes the book over 1,000 times for their server checks.

its more like maple story has a ton of stories, and lets you make your own as you play. Haven't you ever seen all of the quests for the librarian at the bottom of helios tower?

After looking at Isaac's "Maple Story" thread, one cant deny the existence of plot in this game. However, the plot is "not important enough", taking a back seat to merchanting, training, etc.

The stories are there, its just that most people dont pay enough attention to them (Myself included). Do you read what the npcs are saying when you do the quests? I know I just click through them for the most part as do many people I know. Do you do all the quests possible? I just do the convenient ones and leave the ones I have to go out of my way to do... out of the way. Again, many of the people I know take the same stance on quests. "Why do the quest when you can spend that time grinding away at skeles, leveling faster, making more money, etc. than if I were to do this quest"

For the most part, quests (which builds the "storyline" of maple) arent structured in a way that makes them appealing to the average mapler to do (other than select quests with good prizes like 60% glove atks, 60% overall dex/luk/int, etc) and as they're not appealing, many dont do them.

What am I getting at? Does maple story have a story? Yes. Is the storyline blatantly obvious and well structured? Nope. Is maple story about the storyline? Nope.

Edit: And I agree with Willow. When my friends first introduced me to this game 3.5 years ago, I was like "Maple Story? Is it like a Canadian game?" and they were like "Nope, its Korean" and laugheed at me D: To this day, I still dont know why its called Maple Story, rofl.
