Also it makes the genetic pool smaller and increases the child to have diseases. Especially the same diseases the family has and there wouldn't be a second set of genes to counter it.

How can someone have sex with a family member. That just seems so awkward to me. Plus, when you start inbreeding, there can be problems.
How would you explain it to kids if you have them? Psychologically it would be so hard.

It would only be hard to tell them because that's what they've taught you when you've grown up. If the world happens to mature and be a more accepting place; they won't see the difference between you and other married couples; as it won't be taught as wrong.

I'm comfortable with first cousins at most - genetic defects are no more prevalent in cousin-cousin offspring than normal marriage, and I heard that the chance of miscarriage actually decreases due to the genetic similarity or something.

That is only one generation. If the family supports incest, then you'll have problems where you've got deleterious homozygous recessive alleles in your gene pool over time. It's not just a social taboo, nature has built in its own instinctual kin recognition ability within us so that we avoid sex with close relatives.

Yea, maybe I will tell my son that when he turns 7. To me, it just seems that sleeping with a family member would cause more complications that what is needed in this world. Children already have so many problems, why create more?
