Impending Southperry MapleStory Event

So, some of you may have noted this patch contains a chair.

• Yes, there will be an event.
• No, it has not started yet.
• No, even I don't know when the start date is, yet.It will probably start on the 18th if our maintenance on the 11th is successful.
• Yes, there will be another notice actually telling you when it's happening and giving you all the details.
• Yes, donors, content testers and event committee knew about it months ago and have been helping set it up.
• No, that doesn't give them any unfair advantages because they only tested the framework, not the content. Some of them may will be given advance (early) versions of the chairs to reward their participation and support and promote them in game, but that's still being negotiated. Some of them have done the event 3x or more to help make it work and test it thoroughly so they've earned it if they do.
• Yes, a notice will be posted when the event begins.
• No, you do not have to be a registered member of Southperry, or register at all, to participate, win or claim a prize.
• No, registered members do not have any advantage over unregistered members. *Except last bullet
• Yes, the event will require multiple days of participation.
• No, the issues with hidden street's event are not present in ours, so everyone who participates should be able to win, you just may take longer than someone who does the event better or is luckier.
• Yes, there will be a limited number of prizes initially. 5,000
• No, I don't know what that limit is, yet.
• Yes, Nexon will probably give us more if we manage to run out, like they did for Basil Market.
• Yes, our event was designed to recognize when it ran out of prizes and ensure you still get them in the order you would've received them in originally if and when more become available.
• Yes, there is intent for their to be more events with Nexon in the future, possibly shared with other fansites as well as unique ones.
• Yes, this event is only available to people in the GMS service area, except for users who have been registered with Southperry no later than last year (<=2012). Registering now/later won't get you this exemption it's a reward for loyal fans.

Baffles me why anyone would design a fan service event where a single mistake means complete disqualification.

Does that mean you don't have to have registered before hand (ex. basilmarket event) or you dont have to register/"have an account" AT ALL?

Maybe they didn't quite think their cunning plan through. It just seems silly since that's the kind of thing that doesn't make your site look good, which is kind of the purpose why you're doing it in the first place...

No, it's definitely can not. We tested that since Nexon was clear on both the "1 per customer" and "limited quantity" concepts.

At all. Why would any of us want to waste user names and database space on hundreds of people who just want a chair and have no intent of ever being a participating or contributing member? If they want to lurk, lurk. If the want to post, register.

You don't have to register, period. Not beforehand, not when entering the event, and not to claim the chair.
Generally speaking, we prefer that people only register if they're going to participate (i.e., post) on the forum.

Rather, I think it needs to be large and bolded in Eos' announcement. Might stop some of the people who are rushing to register since it became known we're to have an event.

Bolded is sufficient, since it's the only formatting in there. Makes it pretty eye catching and clear.

They can only be redeemed in GMS, therefore if you're outside the GMS service area you have no need for one and giving you one is either wasting a token that should go to a user or enabling resale of codes.

Thing is, the Europeans here do play GMS, legitimately, on their old accounts. So they can use the codes themselves.

I ask that you allow Europeans to participate, but only if they've been SP members since before 1/1/13. Might even stipulate some condition of being active. I've no idea how many exceptions that makes (but you could probably answer that), I just think it's quite unfair to people who are active both on SP and GMS to be denied this chair just because of where they live. I mean, by these rules, even Satellite, who drew the concept art, can't have a chair.

Best I can say is that I'll see what I can do.

How do we receive the chair in game? Basil and HS's events were NX items to redeem but a chair is different. Will there be an option to get it from the Admin or something?

It is just as easy to redeem a non-cash shop item from the cash shop.

I was actually hoping at some point in the nearish future for more of a little in-game friendly competition between the sites, sort of like cake vs pie, or maplemas vs versalmas, where you pick a team and do an event to support them.

the now maple-radio/sleepywood/perion corner fusion not getting any love?

If they're on the fan list they could be working on their own event too. It's not like ours was instantaneous and these things need to be spread out properly.

The problem is finding something that can be done that requires participation and time investment in such a way that Basil wouldn't just automatically win off sheer number of participants. That is definitely a tricky little conundrum.

all i konw is sleepy forums now redirects and is integrated into maple-radio's forum. as for perion corner, they have their own sub section as well on maple-radio.(along with orbishub(i think some animation stuff), and vivaprize(survey for points site))

basically merged alot of the smaller forums together into one larger forum under maple-radio's domain

Besides that epic chair, if that Chin pet every became available in CS, I'm sure it will be the number one selling pet of all time. That thing is so so cute.

From my understanding, You will receive a code similar to Basil and HS's events, So once your account is un-banned, you can redeem your code that way.

That isn't telling me if I will get a notification that is a force read. All i see is there will be a notification. That could mean just a new thread, a new post or opt-outs will not get it.

Being a lurker is only a problem if you're outside the GMS service area.
If you're in North America, Oceania (Australia and environs), the Middle East, or any other area that doesn't have its own MapleStory franchise, you can participate in the Southperry event without registering.
