Coming from seeing a vast number of "___ build please" threads on DFOS, I completely see where Eos is coming from on this one. "Should I" and "How should I" questions tend to be vaguely written with little supporting information. They result in highly subjective answers, and inevitably the OP comes back later unsatisfied with whatever option was recommended to them and blames this on whoever replied.Quote:

I feel "Should I" threads actually help if one is new to the game. I agree the jerks who toss back the person's advice shouldn't make such threads in the first place, but sometimes at least being given a certain direction to walk towards can help a ton. I mean seriously, one proper "Should I" question could save me a lot of headaches down the road. If I asked "Should I make a Mage or a Warrior/Thief/Bowman if I want to play a class for bossing?", I could at least narrow my choices to the latter 3 and have picked a more reasonable class befitting my choice, instead of THINKING a Mage is the best for bossing (due to skewed views on the Mage based on previous RPG games) and x levels later I regret my choice because I'm a greenhorn. Not the best example due to the latest Mage revamps and potential, but you get the idea.

Sort of relevant but I hate the new order for the social and media forums. They should be ordered by use, not alphabetically. And "general gaming" is unnecessarily long. I know we have a bunch of game forums now but I've never seen anyone put a pokemon thread in the game forum and I don't expect to see that happen for LoL or... whatever the other one you added was.
I thought about making an Angry Dome thread but I kept ending up in the Rubick's Cube. So angry I had to go for a walk.

Anyway, @Eos I see no value in having re-ordered various forums besides pissing people off. Usually you make changes that... make sense. This does not.
The order they were in didn't make any sense either, it wasn't by amount of traffic regardless what you think, and certainly wasn't by any numbering scheme other than the virtue of several not being numbered at all, and this order makes them easier and cleaner for me.
The order the social forums were in made perfect sense...ish. It went from real discussion and got more spammy as you descended. Granted, the news and rubik's cube should've been higher were that the case but the point is it still made sense. Now it makes no sense. Why is the Angry Dome at the top? Why is Anime first?
No one who matters (me) even likes anime.
Alphabetical is a logical order everyone can understand, navigate, and follow the purpose of.
I only alphabetized the sections that had no inherent order and don't really feel too concerned about how upset you are over this one.
You yourself admitted they didn't even follow the logical order you felt they tried to.
More blabber and complaining that will eventually be gotten used to and no longer complained about. Again. Change, such a difficult concept for people to grasp.
I'm just surprised at the amount of people who apparently don't browse through "new posts"
With how many posts and sections I tend to ignore and/or don't want to read right now it's hard to navigate through "new posts", it just shows a huge list of stuff.Quote:

In regards to the new posts discussion earlier.... that's what makes my life so easy. My SP link is a direct link to new posts. I pretty much never visit the main forum page, but when I doI prefer dos equisI like to see a nice organization to the listing. It's not particularly difficult to get used to re-ordering... so long as it makes sense. In fact, it makes it much more friendly to new users if they want a specific section. They can scroll straight down to what they need if it's in alphabetical order as opposed to by-traffic order (because they wouldn't know what gets more traffic if they're new).
More to say, but gots stuff to do.

Thanks for the continual improvements Eos. It's nice to see you actively working on stuff for SP despite all of the other websites you own. Normally I'd get worried that your time would be too heavily divided, but you've shown us otherwise.
