In the past few weeks, over 10 of my friends have been randomly hacked. Their accounts are secure and no keyloggers were present. Is this another possible database leak?
Has anyone else been getting hit randomly?

Yes, it's not like the hacking ever stopped.
Did they have PICs with only numbers in it or PICs with alphabetic characters AND numbers in it? Also, was the PIC longer than the minumum of six characters?
The point is that my PIC is a well secured thing. Two friends of mine had just simple six numbers only PICs and both were hacked. We always played together and such, yet I've never been a victim.
1. Chinese Farmers are Controlling Nexons Database
2. U cant do anything, even if u change ur Password, they still hack u
3. Same happend to KMS
4. Only Solution is to Deactivate ur account when u Log off with Hotspot shield
5. Like Usual Nexon is ignoring this Problem
i haven't changed my pass/pic for a year, and my account is untouched.
both my pass and pic are very simple, and half of my info was been smegaed in bera/broa before.
I guess im a luck guy lol.
whoever has the old database/mts leak lists is probably still rooting through them if your friends genuinely didnt give out their info to someone and are just in denial.
no more people are getting hacked than usual.
...hamad is almost too funny to just ignore
My name was in the MTS list, but I never got hacked.
Luckily.
My mule account who I go on maybe once a month at most was hacked last week and my friends mule got hacked yesterday. Neither account being on that mts list
hmmm, this isn't true because when I came back to maple, i geared up my char again, plus all the chairs I have ( I had over 40 chairs before I quit maple(I gave them away to my BL friends))
My account isn't inactive, since my friend play it almost everyday, plus, you see people reporting accounts that have been inactive for more than a year getting hacked or getting a reactivation email.
And his point is that it doesn't pineappleing matter what your PIC is.
As far as you know.
Plenty of people who've been hacked weren't on that one public list of accounts from the MTS.
This made me smile. :)
But, back to the original topic:
Yes, people have been hacked lately. It's been going on for a while.
No, there isn't any solid pattern in what accounts are being hacked.
I think we all agree this result of a database leak/hack or something alike. Now let me ask, who do you think is behind it? Chinese hackers or that other gang of hack creators from which half of them is being sued?
As I've said in the past, as have others...
Change your password once a month or once every 2 months and you'll be fine.
@KhainiWest
lmfao. That's great.
I still find it funny that Nexon tries to bluff that they are increasing security and are on top of things, when really they don't even understand their own game.
On april fools I'm going to be so Pro nexon I will make you guys want to murder me.
Play what?
Because I imagine there's an implied "Maple" in your sentence, and that's absolutely not inclusive enough.
Basically, anyone who plays any Nexon game and charges NX is at risk.
Why do you people think it's so much fun to ask questions that no one can realistically answer?
Also false.
Still safe here. So is a lot of people I know. so far only 1 guild mate, my mule which I never touched in years, and 1 buddy have been hacked. I locked all my important stuff anyway I really don't care if hackers take my money so long as I can keep my important stuff. Money's easy to replace items are not.
Probably this one:
http://maplestory.nexon.net/Communit...you-got-hacked
though there are a few 'bin hacked' threads on the go there.
At first he sounds like he knows a thing or two. But saying 'MTS hack is still around' makes me wonder, since like Swordstaker said, the original MTS exploit didn't seem near as bad.Quote:
If you put an item into MTS, you will be hacked. Yes, the MTS hack is still around. They simply go into cash shop, click buy on your item a bunch, do something with an illegal program which I won't tell you what because then you'll be trying it, click buy on your item again, click "EXIT", and then it pops them into MTS on YOUR character. Now, they can simply exit the cash shop, still on your character, and give them all of your stuff, drop yours, gift them NX, etc.
That seems so beyond http://cdn.gamerant.com/wp-content/u.../Farfetchd.jpg
Logged into Maple Story for the first time in a year to go for the ring quest and see all my scrolls, items and mesos gone.
Well more reason to not go back.
I did not ask anyone tell me the 'truth' about who is hacking everybody, I said who do you think can be behind this? That's asking for an opinion. You don't need to know facts or have proofs to suspect of someone. Like the people saying Hollywood is buying congressman to pass SOPA.
I'm asking about this becuase I wonder if the group being issued by Nexon (supposedly) could be the same one behind the hackings. Even if all I can get from it is hate them more and wish them even worse.
My mule got hacked back in December (with a reset email), during the last thread.
My main got hacked sometime this month, even after several password changes in December.
my cousins old acc got hacked... I was using it to hold some of my items too... and slowly gearing it so I could maybe play it one day.
it was not involved in the MTS leak but I was unable to change its password and pic for a long while so that could be why... or my cousin gave his info to a friend and it got hacked that way...
Elsword has been going through a hacking spree as well. Same pattern too, no one believes it at first, then reputable/ not stupid people report to being hacked and stuff gets real.
Just something to consider, Nexon is no longer the only one having trouble of this caliber. KC even went through measures to limit purchases on certain items to make it harder for them to clean out people's item cash, acknowledging the situation.
i mean, we're hearing about companies like Sony and others getting their information/Pws stolen pretty often now. All this considered, could it be that the art of hacking in general has actually reached that TV fantasy 'can get through almost anything' level?
