Portal 2 is now available for pre-loading (pre-installing) if you've preordered the game!
I'm so excited. Downloading at the moment and looking at achievements. Gonna keep it spoiler-free for now. :3

Hopefully I can rock at it during Spring break.
So basically you can pre-download it and valve "unlocks" it on Tuesday.
I'm getting it on Xbox though (like an idiot).
I'm getting it for PS3, so no pre-loading for me~ But I don't mind.
This game comes out with perfect timing for me. I only have two days of school next week b/c of Easter.
Pre-loading too. At 41%
Awesome, time to pre-load! I'm gonna love this.
Anyone who owns any of the Potato Sack games on Steam are encouraged to download updates for them.
I own BIT.TRIP Beat, for example, and they have a special Portal-related level:

Anyone who preoredered portal 2 might as well get the desktop icon.

Hopefully I can get it...
Nice.
Going for PS3 version, though, as my PC is SOO crappy I can't run even the first one.
I loved the older ankle suspenders much better XD.
Kojo! How dare you put an inferior video in this thread? Someone just ripped the video and reupped it in a different format or something. The "1080" is no different from the 720 that Valve uploaded ._.

Also, I heard that if you pre-purchased Portal 2 for PC, you get a free copy for PS3 when the Steam launches its Steamworks for PS3.
I messed up. Its if you buy the PS3 version, you get a free PC/Mac copy.

Hey guys, gimme your money. Thanks.
I think he means the other way around. I know for sure that if you get the PS3 version you get the PC version, but not backwards.
EDIT: late to post, didn't refresh for a while
Getting my Xbox 360 copy with $5 and $20 in Amazon credit with free release date delivery. Should have my game around 10am like I did for Dead Space 2. So freaking excited!
Preloaded already.
Double checked a few of the games I already had in that potato pack, and of them; "Wonderful end of the World" (cheap game, cheap price, decent for laptop trips) only had a potato in the loading screen as far as I could tell; "AaaAAA" had a switch and a typing field of some sort that I couldn't figure out, and did not look up for fear of spoilers; and "Audiosurf" had an... interesting forced song placed on the first attempt to load after starting.
Upon looking that up, it was a remix that had already been around for a while.

I must say, I am impressed by the sheer amount of advertising they've been doing for this game. Billboards and buses in the area included. I wouldn't doubt that if this game is successful that valve would venture into films as they once stated they were interested in. In my eyes they certainly are headed in that direction with the way the marketing's been done.
Wah? I never noticed any billboards or buses with Portal. Hell hardly anyone at my school knows about Portal 2.

Something fun, perhaps?
And some music... yes....

By the way, IRC indirectly convinced Fiel to buy Portal 2.
My friends were in New York for a school trip a few weeks ago.

We still have one day to wait out to see if this means anything.

Holy crap.
This deserves a doublepost.

Play Potato Sack games! Help Portal 2 come out earlier!
No, we just have to play moar. :U After all, she did say "Then it will be entirely in your hands when I am freed."

Aw man, gotta pass, spent too much on games already this semester :(
The thing is, it still isn't going to release much earlier. Monday, at best.
Current calculation page is here.
Anyone know what all the potatoes nets you?
As far as I know so far, it just advances the release date of the PC version of Portal 2.
On a related note, this marketing thing with the Potato (POrTAl TwO) is far larger than I last expected. They've even gone as far as encrypting messages within hidden sound files within the games.
For all the info for this pre-release event that I've been looking at lately; Look Here.
On another note, the number of Potatoes from the users in our steam group are pretty disappointing.
Not interesting in spending $40 so I can get a $45 game 10 hours earlier. I'll wait.
I don't even own those games lol.
Not sure how it works, but if it's simply "play games sold in the potato pack", you should be able to help out with games you've previously bought. eg, I got SMB months ago. If I play it now, it might contribute.
I think.
Is it just having the game open, or something different?
Nonono,
If you get all 36 potatoes from all games, you get something "special". TWEOTW is almost at full. I've been chugging at SMB, and have about an hour, which, according to 48 hours for 1%, is .021 percent of a percent.
I'm kinda scared to play stuff like TF2 and go on certain forums this weekend. I want to avoid spoilers as much as possible.
There are still potatoes that you can get without any of the games. For example, looking up and joining a steam group called NELIPOT nets you one with minimal effort.
That's the only potato that's not related to a game.
And it's been pretty much confirmed that you need to have a game from the Potato Sack to get that potato.
EDIT: Latest release date at the moment is 6:10 AM PST on Tuesday, April 19th.
As we complete more games, the release date is going to be pushed closer.
I see. Well, I didn't buy any of the potato pack and just had a few from before that went around; and thanks to that I haven't really been on top of this whole ARG thing as much as many of you. Thanks for the correction. Saves me from looking like I got my steam account hacked by spamming my friends to join a random group.
For the lulz:

Not so much for the lulz:
Has anyone listened to that "leaked portal 2 end song?" It's pretty catchy :P
I know that getting potatoes increases the multiplier, and that it helps get a better overall progression. What I'm asking, is for you to look at this and tell me what the reward is.
How long is Portal 2? $45 seems really high considering how cheap The Orange Box was.
So like half an hour?
No but seriously, the first game took me about an hour and a half on my first playthrough. Game needs more substance.
People are saying all 36 nets you the entire Valve pack, including Portal 2.
They've said that Portal 2 is twice as long as the original. Multiplayer is also just as long as singleplayer.
Also, with all the deals going on you can get it for less anyways. PC Version is like $35 in some places, Amazon is giving $20 in Amazon credit when it's already $5 off (360/PS3). Best Buy has the best deal so far, it's already marked down to $45 and $10 in BB rewards money and a $10 gift card (360/PS3).
Any way you slice it, Portal 2 is worth the money.
People on GameFAQs are saying single player is 3-5 hours. Co-op mode should be about the same.
Yeah, for console versions. Nothing about a PC early pirate version, though.
Guys, I'm buying a new laptop and it arrives in May. It will already come with Portal 1 installed so hopefully I can get in on this game.
Later I'll be buying Portal 2 and follow the craze if all goes well.
Any extra money with that added?
Gah, I really hate pirates. C'mon guys, ValvE actually deserve the money.
Too bad I can't play it until Thursday -_-.
1 HOUR 'TILL PORTAL 2!!!

Slowest hour ever.
inb4GLaDOS lied ;__;
THE COUNTDOWN ON http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/ STOPPED!!!!
IS PORTAL 2 OUT?!?!?!?!?!?
It's out now (I think)
Portal 2 is, indeed, out.
Anyone who got 36 potatoes has been awarded a Valve Complete Pack.

"Decrypting Portal 2 game files"
Looks like I'm not getting any sleep tonight. Good thing I only have Math and some filler classes tomorrow.
Extremely jealous right now.
Have fun, guys!
Decrypting as we speak as well. Glad I got that coding project done (despite already being late) just in time so that I could focus on this. They put out so, so, SOOO much hype for this game, so I'm oddly excited beyond normal.
Also: Still glad I got it for the cost of in game maple event rings. Might have to do that more often >.>
EDIT: 12% Hurry up to 13% damn it:hothead:.
Glad to see its finally out. Still a little upset about the ARG, since midnight EST was already the projected launch time. But I'm glad those with 36 potatoes got the wheatley betrays you and takes over the facility.
Decrypting just finished. >:O
God if this thing errors.....
Edit:
"Incomplete Installation of Portal 2 (10)"
I am upset.

Got it to work. Res > my monitors. Holy pineapple why?
Edit 3: Got it working. Bye.
First one on Campus to play it.
This game is delicious.
So jelly. Curse my crappy computer and lack of money.
They're selling Potato Sack game flags in the Store. $0.99 each.
I'd buy one if Steam accepted Wallet amounts smaller than $5 >_>
54k people playing already. I can't wait another like seven/eight hours. :3
Beat main single player game. Not going to spoil anything, but there were a fair number of twists, and I'd estimate that the game's first run-through should take about 6 hours. I goofed off a-lot painting stuff. I will say that the puzzles seemed easy; but then, I haven't seen whatever challenges there are as well as hard mode on co-op.
Now going to sleep and waking to see who'd be up for co-op.
EDIT: Oh, and apparently several TF2 hats carry over to Portal 2 Co-op.
Game Spoilers
So, friend got golden potato, which gives him some pack of games to give away which includes Portal 2. So I get to play :c
Hah. Stephen Merchant is the voice of Wheatley? This game keeps getting better and better.
I'm intrigued.
What would you all give the game /10?

Good ending song, but not as good as the first one.
Wow, that was really fun. Great ending. :D
I feel so stupid.
Plot Spoilers inside!
EDIT: Nvm I got it.
