I call bull on the scrolls failing to pass.

The problem with the 1 = .9999... argument is that it works in algebra and geometry but does NOT make sense in the realm of computers. 1 and 0.9999... are fundamentally different data types (int and float). Also, any programmer that's worth his salt will NEVER EVER EVER use a float in a comparison operation. It's stupid to do it, and will cause weird runtime anomalies. (For an example of runtime anomalies look here. If you want to compare a float, use Epsilon Tolerance comparison)

If Nexon Korea's programming is any good, they will generate an INT from 0 to 100 (which runs hundreds of times faster than generating a float between 0 and 1) and check to see if that number is less than or equal to the success rate. If so, then the scroll passes. Because the success rate on the 100% scroll is 100 (it's a packed integer in the WZ files), the rolled number will always be less than or equal to the success rate. Notice that there is no float comparisons here. A 100% scroll cannot fail.

I actually have the BMS source code. I could check this.

EDIT: Also that idiot never actually proved in any way, shape, or form that he was right. He never showed any code that would prove that a 100% scroll could fail. He just got all high and mighty that he knows what it means to program then declared himself right because he knows more than everyone else. What a loser.

Here's the source code.

Hi, Fiel.

I said essentially the same thing in a thread on Basilmarket prior to when this thread here was created, and was attacked left and right for it.
I didn't have the proof to back myself up, but I'm very happy to see you do.

Thanks so much for weighing in on the subject and finally putting an end to the debate.

With Love,

TLK

anyway, I remembered one, taking off your clothes for jump quests would better chances of doing better or have the illusion of going faster

edit: previous one is stupid lol

The JQ one actually works, not faster, but so that I could actually "see" my legs. I always fall down with my clothes, especially cs equips with flames, wings and such blocking my sight, so I always unequip anything that covers my legs so that I can see the platform properly.

Anyther Myth: Jumping while scrolling an equip increases success rate.

That would be included in "Doing X will increase your chances of X."

Wolf Territory V. Back in the old days, for you youngins', that was a legitimate training spot for we F/P Mages. It was so ungodly slow....It was unreal, it might as well be a myth.

Crog and the box on the ship between Vic and Orbis. I think it was... if there's no box, then there's Crog or something like that. Obviously either 1) someone else has already punched the box, or 2) it's blatent 'bish.

I've never heard that one.

I did hear one where if you stayed on the bottom portion of the boat, when crog showed up he could never hit or kill you there. As I was gullible at the time (This was like when Orbis was first implemented), I tested this and proved it false very quickly. Honestly, I dunno if it's still that way. Does anyone even bother with Crog anymore? He used to be a power test back when he was you know...a problem. I haven't even heard anything about him mentioned for years until you brought that rumor up (Which jogged my memory of the encounter I had).

Crog doesn't(didn't?) spawn anymore apparently in GMS. Unless Nexon fixed that.

He doesn't? Wow, way to make a 10 minute ride boring (If you had to take the boat for some reason).

Before Merc/DS patch, I remembered killing a couple before. Now, not a single sighting. Would be nice to get a Crog familiar... just for fun!

Some people say that having a single skill in a macro make the casting faster compared to having it assigned directly to a key, I have no idea if is true or not since I don't really notice any difference but I guess someone here probably know the true and can confirm or debunk this.

B-Step is the only skill I've heard this about. I've tested it once, and it cast the same number of times in 30 seconds on a macro and on a key. However, it might have been inaccurate and I've been meaning to test it again.

it does "cast faster" for a DS using that swooping skill in the air (forgot the name) the skill will pretty much cast itself as soon as you reach the required altitude

A macro will activate as soon as it can provided you didn't do something to interrupt it. Here are some examples

- If you are in the air and use a rush macro, as soon as you hit the ground, rush will be used (provided it's not been like 5 seconds or something stupid like that)
- Double leaf tornado macro is standard for mercedes as they can pull 2 LTs in 1 jump. The 2nd LT will be used asap if the required height is there
- Buffs will be used in quick succession

It is possible to do it as a human as well but macros do it as a computer which will be precise and much more perfect than a human's timing.

There is one that isn't actually a myth but a real thing. Buffing on a rope is much faster than buffing on ground. Was touted to be a myth for a while very long time ago, but it's actually true.

Also, for mages, weapon speed affects casting speed. Right...... unless you're BaM, but 4 years ago there wasn't a BaM yet.

It affected explosion for fire mages because it was a 2-part skill.

Oh yeah I forgot about that part. My bad. Didn't play F/P so that didn't get drilled into me.

So, considering that BS has a cooldown, the macro wouldn't affect the cooldown and make it shorter, would it?

no idea which BS skill was, i was talking about the one that spams you with "not high enough to do this skill"
