I think that lina's outfit is a size too small.
None of them look very happy. At all.
Drow is smiling, and TA is... Tis a secret!
Clearly she wants to accentuate her boobs. Upvoting because they went through the trouble to make such nice cosplay outfits.
Speaking of Templar Assassin, holy crap a seemingly bad game swung so hard in our favor. Was TA in the middle; Death Prophet was kicking all kinds of ass and lead the game by ~10 kills. Necrolyte on their team D/Ced, and a few kills later my whole team pretty much had the game on free farm mode and swung to ~36 - 52 (52 being us). I snowballed so hard with TA after about 3-5 kills it was downright disgusting.
Good luck not atleast smiling.

Also, have some concept art: http://imgur.com/a/k2Tdc
I love the concept art for Abbadon. And you can (kinda) make out the lore for some of them, especially Tresdina. Someone transcribed it somewhere, I don't have it handy though. Basically the tl;dr of it is that Tresdin rose up through the ranks to become the commander of a legion and would always offer to duel enemy commanders before battling. Then a skeleton army led by someone in spirit-crafted armor (this is possibly the Legion of the Dead God, maybe led by Abbadon) shows up. She duels the enemy commander and kinda beats him but then some sort of fog appears and she can't see her troops. She walks around trying to find people and eventually stumbles into our (Dota 2) world.
No explicit mention of her being racist, which doesn't bode well. (but doesn't reveal anything!)
Enemy team picks TA, I pick veno, 24/4/x game, god I loved that game.

6.77c is here!
Keeper of the KotL nerfs, tranq boots nerfs, nyx carapace nerfs, drow nerfs, treant buffs, and a buff to Heaven's Halberd in regards to Manta.
Expected nerfs. This basically makes tranqs fit into the role Ice wanted them to fit, early game boots you'd disassemble later, and not boots you'd never have to replace because of how crazy cost effecient they were.
Kotl is too good in current meta. Nyx too good as a support. Treant still horrible. Heaven's halberd suddenly core against heroes like AM.
I like it overall.
Plus holy pineapple this change will hit PL hard.
PL already got nerfed. Tranqs getting the hammer "affects PL the most because his alternatives were the worst of all. Prior to Tranquils his options were pretty much buy Vanguard or sit on naked RoH. RoH eats up an item slot, and full Vanguard makes your development to real items unbelievably slow." to use the words of another person.
Tranqs are basically also the reason luna became a viable pick again.
lol what. Them boots made and broke a some Hero's meta-game that much? Yeesh. I pretty much went Power Treads whenever I played those 2, and still won. Wouldn't Tranquil Boots still be pretty viable though as a spammable heal? Free HP is still free HP at ~40% the price of a Mek. The boots still have the 2nd highest movement speed boost out of all the shoe upgrades. PL should remain insanely annoying to fight when he can Dopplewalk with no worries to his mana during mid-game and beyond.
But when the tranqs are broken now they only give you 25 move speed.
And the healing lasts 20 seconds now, which means if the opponent breaks the heal after 5 seconds you're pretty pineappleing screwed.
But yes, tranqs made a lot of heroes that developed too slowly in the past viable again. Luna used to need HotD to function, now tranqs can solve the problem.
Tranqs are still good, but need to be replaced, instead of being their choice of boots untill they're capped in items and need to replace them with BoT.
OH, so that's what they meant. I thought the movement speed penalty was reduced (+75 MS to +50 MS, not +75 MS to +25 MS). Hmm, I haven't actually tried Tranq carries. Seems like a mighty interesting idea. Don't care they're nerfed. Still want to try it out.
Tranqs are so fun on Spectre though so you don't have to go full vanguard and can just go tranqs+PMS.
Spoiler alert, I really pineappleing love Spectre.
I actually think the tranqs nerf is a pretty inspired choice by Icegod. Does a good bit to shut down the midgame carries that are so prevalent lately like PL and Luna. Don't think it'll hurt Gyro or Lifestealer a ton though so they'll probably be pretty strong along with Syllabear. And it actually hurts Batrider a fair amount which is good by all accounts.
Honestly though, Gyro/Lifestealer/Syllabear is a pretty meh bunch of carries. I'm wondering who we'll see next-- Sven? Tiny? Alch? CK? AM? Jugg? Void? Troll? Bristleback when we get him? I hope we see an end to SD/KotL/PL/Batrider as the big picks, that's all I want out of 6.77c.
BB will be competitive level top tier pick, i can guarantee you that.
If he isn't, the pros aren't giving him a chance. His latest buffs over the past 3-4 patches.. Oh my.
Quote:
Quill Spray damage cap increased from 220 to 400
- Warpath damage per stack increased from 10/15/20 to 20/25/30
- Warpath base damage increased from 10/20/30 to 20/25/30
Quote:
Bristleback
- Quill Spray damage cap increased from 180 to 220
Like i swear to god Ice really wants to see BB picked.Quote:
- Cast point decreased from 0.5 to 0.4
- Attack point reduced
- Turn Rate Increased (makes him turn faster)
yeah well he really wants Rooftrellen to be picked and that's working out great, isn't it?
To be fair, roof and terror blade are in the same boat, they've never been 'okay'. They've always either been pomegranate or OP.
BB has been competitive material in the past, and with these buffs he most definitely is again.
And BB is currently a top pick in DotA1 IIRC.
Anyway, QPAD red pandas had their first official series against the russian powerhouse Empire yesterday.
Spoiler
Dota X2 is pineappleing hilarious. I couldn't get into Random OMG mode though.
Nukers like QoP, KotL, and Timbersaw are permanently banned. It's a bit hard to understand why Timbersaw is banned until you realize his Timber Chain range is doubled. Comes out of nowhere and two-shots you since his nukes are obscene early (at level 2 with 1 2 1 he does 390 pure damage almost instantly-- in normal dota. that turns into 780 pure damage in dota x2) and then both the stack amount and the stack values from Reactive Armor are doubled so he gets 64 armor and recovers 64 hp/s if he gets full stacks.
Oh, and Pugna is a bit wacky too but he's not banned. Ward makes someone like Troll Warlord's mana regen be about -10/second. And his Nether Blasts chunk towers for about a quarter of their health and heroes for about a third of their health.
Best game mode ever.

New Dagon effects at various levels
along with v6.77c parity, and Timbersaw in -CM (wooooooooo).
Timbersaw being added to -CM reminded me of something.
Apparently, a while back, a guy was posting long walls of text about hero developments under the title Break the Metagame. He called a number of things including the resurgence of Gyrocopter, the rise of Alchemist, how goddamn good Shadow Demon would become, and the terror that is PL+KotL. 3 months ago.
He's now calling Dark Seer becoming useless with splitpushing coming into vogue, Zeus becoming strong (Bottlecrow has one good thing about it I guess), Necrolyte+Warlock+Timbersaw all seeing a fair amount of play within the near future, Abbadon seeing virtually no play when he gets added, Bristleback seeing a fair bit of play when he gets added, Slark seeing some love as a solo pick, and Tusk seeing tons of play when he gets into -CM.
If this guy is right, I'm pomegranateting my pants.
If you want to re-watch the Mass Dagon match, purchase the WePlay ticket if you don't have it already and wait for patch to hit. Download the showmatch replay even if you already have.

I don't quite get what you mean about bottlecrow.
Edit:
Oh, you said Googles. Not goggles. That makes what you said make a bit more sense.
Realistically, you can probably wait for someone else to upload it. If I see it floating around on /r/dota2 I'll make sure to post it for you.
And yeah there are all these non-intuitive mechanics in the game like bottlecrowing, stacking, pulling, armlet/tread toggling, orbwalking, shift-queueing, max range blink dagger decrease, and heck everything related to bkb and linken's sphere.
Like yesterday I realized that Spirit Breaker's bash goes through magic immunity.
It seems like people expect you to either go through 10 years of innovation and testing by yourself or to look it all up on the incomplete wikis and memorize it all. Like, pineapple, Skadi's explicitly states that it doesn't stack with lifesteal. Yet it does (but only for melee!).
Like seriously, something like that is actually a bunch of bullpomegranate. People say that "oh it raises the learning curve and makes the game less casual," but pineapple that. I'm all in favor of having the game be complex and having weird interactions but flat-out lying on the item description and never announcing it is flat-out stupid. It's artificial and it adds nothing.
/rant
But yeah, if you think you've figured out what you're doing in dota, if you're not competing in the international you're probably missing something.
Skadhi actually works with ranged as far as lifesteal goes, it also worked with clinkz orb as an exception. It working with melee attacks in Dota2 is so far... unconfirmed if it is intentional. A lot of interactions in DotA2 aren't the way they should be yet.
The ingame description is actually also:
IIRC. But it works with melee too for some reason, and intentionally works with searing arrows.Quote:
Eye of Skadi is a Unique Attack Modifier, and does not stack with other Unique Attack Modifiers. On ranged heroes, Eye of Skadi can be combined with a lifesteal Unique Attack Modifier.
The way bash works both damage and the stun aren't like dota1 either, ranged bash is physical damage and magical stun(Blocked by BKB) in Dota1 (Talking about skull basher here) but in DotA2 unless they fixed it lately it's always magical damage and physical stun for both ranged and melee.
Also dota is a game of exception, i still learn new things occasionally (Juggernaut spin allows him to attack towers whilst active, but it doesn't allow him to attack other units, but siege units are an exception, so you can spin and attack siege units and cleave around it. Pretty funny)
Also small rant(Not really a rant) regarding the guy predicting stuff:
Spoiler
Yeah, it's pretty easy to call some of the metagame changes. PL agi buff from 2.8 to 4.2? Flak Cannon range 800 to 1000 and Rocket Barrage 19 to 23 per hit? The changes just typically take a few months to take root and show up in big matches.
Funny thing is how a lot of people pass off skills or heroes as useless and ignore the massive buffs. I remember when Rocket Barrage scaled 10/12/14/16 and everyone left it at level 1. Gyro didn't have much of an early game presence or late game carry potential, so people didn't consider that he could with the right buffs. I read through a Gyro discussion on r/dota2 (obviously not the place for cutting edge metagame discussion, but hey) late last year after the buffs and people were still like, "Rocket Barrage doesn't scale that well so max the other skills first." That's how you end up with people surprised when a previously useless hero like Nyx Assassin starts showing up in every pro game.
Spirit Breaker's bash got changed to pierce bkb in 6.75 along with a host of other buffs including removing the indicator visible to the enemy hero that the rape train had left the station.
You can actually attack any magic immune unit during spin, not just mechanical units like catapults. Actually, you can attack any unit it just won't do damage if you're hitting them with spin. But with something like a Maelstrom or Mjolnir, that means you can get free procs off during your spin. I think you can even get basher procs or diffusal manaburn during spin. You can also TP during spin, which Juggernaut even has special VO lines for.
For SD, good tier support != S Tier which he is now. Really, he's one of the most contested picks right now.
Warlock still has only seen minimal play besides the dig game with Spectre even in western games.
Omniknight suffers mainly from having godawful cast animations, he can play as an offlaner with soul ring if need be.
And I'm pretty sure the thing about it was that he called all of this way before it happened.
Most of his predictions are just logic but so was the prediction that Silencer would be a top pick/ban and look how that turned out.
SB bash has always been a special thing though, as i said, i am talking about the bash effects from skull basher and abyssal blade(Which is the upgraded skull basher so their mechanics are shared).
I know he can trigger on hit effects, but when i say can't attack i mean that he wont deal any damage. Lifesteal procs too, but any % of 0 is still 0.
Which he was in dota1 too, SD was always an absolutely top tier pick, but the way bans and picks works was changed, which changes when you pick what you pick. I don't consider this a change at all, some european teams might've started picking him slightly less(Some of the same european teams have problems handling wisp and still haven't figured out how to handle him it seems) but he was always valued highly by the chinese.
SD has a period(2 or so months) where barely anybody touched him(Even then he'd still pop up in 20%), for god knows what reason, because he was still an insanely strong pick.
In DotA1 he remained a top tier pick all along. Him and rubick are sick supports.
Dignitas picks him occasionally, and he still has massive problems, his laning is ass when it comes to being shut down, if you put him mid and he's shut down, he's near impossible to get back into the game and he'll become a wasted mid pick.
Yes, but omni's primary role when he was picked was support, because he's a god tier support as far as skills go, but all melee supports share the same flaws, if ogre was ranged he'd be amazingly insane.
I still don't get why people considered the new silencer a top tier pick, people who got stomped by him might've thought so, but he's a bit weaker than OD in lane and has lower surviveability(Prison can buy you some time) and even as a support he has inherent flaws that the buffs he recieved didn't fix at all. Most people i talked with agreed, he's a strong 1v1 laner in a lot of match-ups, and CAN snowball. But apply pressure and contest him and he's near impossible to get back into the game as a carry or mid, and other supports outclass him.
You're talking about shutting down mids and I just look at bottlecrow and laugh. Shutting down mids doesn't happen without smokeganks these days. That's why Magnus is a viable mid.
OD's problem is that he does virtually nothing against magic immune heroes. If you pick him and Lifestealer or Jugg he doesn't do pomegranate and he doesn't do pomegranate if Gyro or Sven gets a BKB. And there were pros that were calling Silencer an instant first pick/ban. Like Puppey I'm pretty sure.
No, Magnus isn't a viable mid because of bottle crowing, skewer and shockwave are the main reasons, bottle crowing helps him and heroes like night stalker out. But if he didn't have an escape in skewer and good base surviveability, he'd have no position in mid at all, silencer doesn't have any terms of escape and is far too easy to kill. He is incredibly bad mid against top tier teams. And no, ODs problem isn't that he does virtually nothing against magic immune units, ODs problem is that he needs his laning phase to go flawlessly because he can't spend time past the early game sitting around farming, because, he has no flash farming abilities. An OD should get mek drums and his choice of boots and start participating in fights, but the problem with him is again, put him solo mid and he's shut down and put him in a safe lane and enemies will aggressive tri against him shutting him down and he contributes pineapple-all to a trilane himself outside of low chance to give allies mana, and prison is a poor man's disruption until level 5. Really, ODs ineffectivity against Magic immunity isn't his problem, or rather, it's not the reason why he's such a rare situational pick, he's an amazing pick if you can ensure his laning phase is flawless with super quick midas(Which should only be done if you're certain you wont possibly be able to have an impact with real items in the next 10+ minutes, that or absolute free-farm.
Yes and puppey was whining like a madman about sven too. Puppey is a good drafter, but he's incredibly fast to call OP on something, i believe he also talked about roof becoming top tier pick and ban with the rework? Puppey also called wisp OP and impossible to ever balance due to how he worked, then wisp recieved buffs and he's still relatively untouched by the chinese, why? Weak laning.
Magnus would not be played as a mid competitively if he wasn't able to bottlecrow. Bottlecrow changes the entire face of the mid lane. Mag would be stuck as a mana-starved offlaner or a 4 position like ES getting blink and arcanes if he wasn't able to salvage his subpar mid lane presence with bottlecrow. He can't deal with a difficult lane without constant bottle because he has no way to farm without spamming shockwave.
OD's problem isn't laning because a well played OD will pomegranate on just about every enemy mid. Bottle won't even be relevant because they'll have so small of a mana pool they won't be able to expend it. Literally no one performs well against him besides maybe Pugna and no one actually plays Pugna. He won't get a kill anytime soon without a gank but he'll make it so that the enemy mid can't do anything. He's a hard carry who is a lane bully.
I know bottlecrowing is big for the mid and defines who is viable there. Mag against a hero like QoP would be hard on him, but he, even without bottle crowing would have a wide range of heroes he could face mid without it. Magnus was picked mid quite some time ago in dota 1 without them using bottle crowing, he did welll against heroes like Nighstalker, brewmaster, broodmother, beast master.
But, silencer has pomegranate surviveability and would be easily shut down, bottle crowing would NOT save silencer from this at all. And yes ODs problem is laning, you can NOT put him mid against top tier teams, he will be shat all over as a hero he would never survive a well executed gank because his base-line surviveability isn't high at all. OD is a strong hero 1v1 but he's not a strong mid. ODs problem and reason for not being picked is in no way his issues with BKB.
Seriously, OD and silencer have the same fate, they are absolutely insane heroes 1v1, but they will lose mid in a top tier environment. Being a strong laner doesn't mean pomegranate if you can't get any farm and will get shut down.
The kind of heroes where bottle crowing makes them viable mid heroes also have something else that makes him viable, which is commonly being able to survive and mostly only needing levels. This applies to magnus, night stalker, brewmaster and so on. If you send OD or silencer mid and only get levels and not farm, you've wasted the heroes entirely and they'll never catch up.
Is it just me, or does something as seemingly small as killing Roshan can completely turn a game around? My team was getting stomped and unable to push without getting destroyed, so I figured might as well farm up gold so Lone Druid can carry harder. 1st Roshan I gave Aegis to Viper. We were then roughly tied with the other team. 2nd Roshan, things picked up in our favor and we were starting to rock the team fights. Then we lasted long enough for a 3rd Roshan, and it was just a stomp right there as a few minutes after that we entered their base as the following:
-3.8k HP Bear Druid with an Assault Cuirass Bear Spirit
-A Butterfly Manta Viper
-Daedelus Manta Troll Warlord
-Abyssal MKB Battlefury Deso Bounty Hunter
-Agha Shiva Crystal Maiden
Not even a Heart Cuirass Doom and Deso S&Y Razor could stand up to us.
Killing Roshan is like 1.5k for your team, a good amount of exp, an aegis, and possibly a cheese. That ain't small.
Relative farm of each team and team composition matters a lot more than the kill score. You can be 10:25 and still winning if you're ahead in farm and have better teamfight.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong with Morphling. I can farm with him, I can survive laning as him, I can get Ring of Aqula, Eblade, and Linken's up and running in a decent amount of time, and I can shotgun well. I do well in teamfights with him, and I can even splitpush decently with him. I end up with a good score even when most of my team is feeding pretty hard but I still usually lose playing him. Should I be getting BoT's? And if so, when? I always feel like my ulti is useless before rank 2 or 3. Maybe it would be more useful if I got BoT's but I don't really get how to use replicate+BoT combo. I really enjoy playing the hero but before I reach critical mass, other lanes have already lost pretty hard.
I'm also terrible at Morphling but one thing you can do with low level Replicate is to clone an ally while your team is pushing and go farm in another lane. Keep the clone with the team and farm or split push another lane. Another use is to send a clone to a lane where you're planning to farm next. Quickly clear whatever lane you're in and teleport out. You can choose to farm dangerously close to the enemy and bait ganks if you want. The best thing about Morphling is basically that he can pretty much be wherever he wants on the map, so you can be farming non-stop and join in teamfights when needed.
Also, the shotgun build isn't always the best way to build him. It murders supports, but it doesn't give you that many stats for cost. If you want more carry potential, look into building items like Heart, Manta, and Butterfly.
I haven't randomed a hero in a long time. Gets randomed Treant Protector.
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...mx-d5g5zap.png
WHY
My team then gets stomped by a Visage/Omni/Witch Doctor/Necro team. What the hell man.
Yeah but clone seems to last such a short time at rank 1, it's only 30 seconds. I just don't feel like it's long enough to get anything important done while remaining safe.
Shotgun is so fun though. I'm consistently the only one putting out significant damage and it's usually against a team of 4 carries so I feel like Eblade is actually the best pickup most of the time. I'm usually building Ring of Aquila into treads into linken's and eblade, it varies which I get first but I'm usually getting both, then manta then whatever (games usually don't go past 350 or so CS). I feel like Heart isn't something I really need since I have str morph which gives me ~4.4k HP with manta eblade linken's RoA and treads and waveform usually comes back up in time to get out of a disastrous fight if I started with shotgunning someone (which, since there's usually not too many supports at my level of play, is usually done on a right-clicking carry to take them out of the fight).
Also, @IllegallySane; just push people out of lane. You take like half their health with a right-click at level 1. Treant kinda sucks in pubs where people don't know how to use Nature's Guise or Living Armor.
That's a really good comp they had though. Drags out teamfights amazingly well and Omni can repel on Witch Doctor for free BKB. Lacks a proper carry though (it seems).
You build linkens before eblade? If you are, thats why you are losing with this hero, eblade looses its effectiveness after 30 min, if you cannot get eblade before 20 min dont bother going for it. Also try to buy straight up wraith band at level one, pick morph for the extra 3 str/dex, morph yourself down to 400-450 hp and hf with 75 lasthit dmg at LEVEL ONE. Theres no way to miss lasthits in this situation if you are mid, theres only a few heroes who can beat this, like batrider (but he beats everyone).
I know linkens seems like the perfect item for morph, but I totally disagree. The easiest way to kill a morph is usually through silence (since you can still activate morph while you are stunned), not many heroes have a single target silence or build orchid, it might be useful for hex but I normally do this:
- Straight up wraith band and tango at lvl 1
- Finish ring of aquila
- Treads
- Eblade
- Skadi/manta
I buy magic wand depending on the enemy team, if theres a bat rider you buy it before finishing treads. Picking your ultimate at lvl 6 is very situational, the only effective use of it is escaping at this point, chasing would cost you too much mana, but if you are laning with someone else and you need to go heal, buy yourself a tp, copy the ally and tp back. You spend 100 mana doing this and you can teleport back to your image when you got full hp again, free healing for 135 gold.
Dear god, I looked up both abilities. I didn't know you can cast spells and use items while invisible. HOLY pomegranate THAT'D HAVE KEPT ME ALIVE SO MUCH IF I KNEW THAT. Living Armor being global, totally forgot. Well, at least I'll know better the next time I random him. Or... maybe I'll actually pick him just so I can try to play him better this time and see if we can actually win.
Also, I forgot to mention the remaining hero, Lich. It was no fun at all fighting that much magic damage. Couldn't build up a Pipe in time.
Oh I freaking give up. How can there exist such a terrible hero? My god, Treant Protector. This is one nature hero that I don't aim to voluntarily use ever again. Yes I'm that mad at being terrible with him, and him having such terrible abilities.
Yea, treant is pretty... problematic. He's just very meh at the moment.
Also on the topic of morph, linkens sphere is a farming item that most of the time really doesn't fit the style of dota most people play nowadays. If you're heading for an e-blade that needs to be your first real item. If you're not, i'd advice building something like treads into drums, yasha and then diffusal if the purge is needed(Like if you're against a warlock, an omni, a skeleton king, ghost scepters etc.) and if not get your manta and then build appropriate items. E-blade is obviously good if you got a god laning phase and there are enemy heroes you can pop.
Also the ulti is fully skippeable, you don't have to touch it at level 6, you can leave it till you can get level 2 ult and even then you'll mostly just be using it to get back to base or back into lane, it's when it becomes level 3 that it needs to be used to follow your own team whilst you split-push and solo kill people.
And if you're against a hero where Heaven's halberd would be amazing(New HH against anti-mage is great for example) you can turn your yasha into an SnY temporarily. Because the yasha on its own is amazing for morphling and you don't need to rush a manta, but you can just build a HH afterwards. Removes the option of going butterfly though, but it's still worth considering if you're not planning to extend the game past 40~ minutes.
I think I got so mad that my next match, first time as Death Prophet I pretty much rolled the entire team. Ended with a Bloodstone and grabbed a Heart just because I could. Other team didn't have a chance against Crypt spam and Exorcism pushing.
On a more relevant topic, any idea when the next patch will be out for the game?
6.78 should be just around the corner. I can't wait. Hoping for some sweet changes to everything.
I keep hearing reassurances that 6.78 is coming this month and I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible for it to hit Dota 2 this month. I think we might be running on Valve time now.
Well yeah, i doubt it'll hit dota 2 this month. But 6.78 is probably out this week or next week.
Plus a lot of the heroes that haven't been ported yet are getting a remake (Tauren chieftain has been up for a remake for a while for example) which could explain why there has been no heroes for a while.
I'm confused as to why Valve would have made particles for all his skills if he was going to be remade.
Arc Warden and Winter Wyvern have only been around since 6.75 which was around TI2 time, right? That's only been like 6 months. Pit Lord (or I guess Abyssal Underlord now...), Terrorblade, and Phoenix got some major changes then too (Pit Lord less so than the others). None of those heroes seem ripe for a remake exactly.
Maybe we'll see changes to Xin during 6.78, but I don't really know what his state is right now so I can't really judge (except for the string of nerfs that he's gotten). Maybe the ever-sad Treant will see yet another remade skill or might get an Aghanim's Scepter upgrade that could help with how lackluster his ult is. I do remember the leaked data on some new heroes from a while back. I kinda hope we get Sissy.
I deeply apologize for double posting.
But holy pomegranate, Treant just got picked by LGD.int.
I mean usually it's the western teams picking weird heroes but holy pomegranate. I guess like 5 subsequent buff patches will eventually get you picked by someone.
There's a VERY good reason he isn't picked :f3:
As was demonstrated by LGD.int LMFAO.
He did a good job of controlling syllabear early on, you've got to admit that.
But jesus, he's useless in the midgame. His ultimate literally prevents approximately nothing. You have no reason to use it to set up a harder to land spell like Black Hole because you can just pick Naga for that and she actually gives you something useful.
I hope Icefrog stops buffing Living Armor and starts buffing his other skills because Living Armor isn't the problem at this point.
Treant is in a stage where his skill-kit is the problem.
Same with some other heroes like blood seeker and huskar.
Tweaking numbers wont help it really, needs a rework.
Treant has early game, sure, he has absolutely incredibly base stats. But then comes the phase after laning where skill-kit is often more important than base stats.
Base stats are insanely important for laning and the early-game.
Also been working on 'perfecting' my build for pub-spectre. It's 2 gud.
Armlet Skadi Manta or Mjolnir first?
On spectre?
My build is something like:
Tranquil early on if you need it during laning, you most likely will need it. If not, just get phase boots.
Build up an urn, can swap urn for bottle if you have another urn carrier but urn is optimal.
Now get a diffusal blade and drum and start ganking, pineapple farming a radiance.
Then snowball off mid-game teamfight gold and then you can get a radiance if you don't think you can end game soon and need to farm. Toss in a yasha whenever you feel you can.
After this you'd get a heart and then the situational items are: Butterfly, manta, heaven's halberd(If you need the disarm badly and you wont be going for butterfly), abyssal blade, AC, MKB(If they have HH or bfly) and last but not least
satanic.
I just vastly prefer getting active early on, not to mention that sitting back and farming a radiance in pubs can be such a gamble. Use dagger+phase to chase targets down with your team and utilize desolate's great damage boost.
I usually go tranqs+PMS+manta into whatever seems good. Butterfly, Heart, Diffusal, Maelstrom/Mjolnir, Skadi, or BKB usually.
I've been tempted to try Armlet-rush Spectre lately. It makes her incredibly beefy and apparently there's some magic you can work with the toggle and Dispersion.
Skadi and Maelstrom are the other two builds that I've heard of but I just feel like Skadi would take way too long to get off the ground. Better as a second or third big item.
I usually prefer to have someone pick up Vlad's rather than get a Satanic as a rule so that I can use Diffusal or Mjolnir. I think I would only get Satanic if I was going Skadi+Satanic.
Honestly though I don't think anyone who knows what they're doing with Spectre rushes Radiance anymore. It just doesn't help her at all anymore.
In fact, the only hero I can think of that would benefit from a Radiance rush anymore is Alchemist. Bristleback too when he comes out. Maybe Doom too but I never really loved radiance rush doom.
Oh, I guess on the Spirit Bear too.
Mjolnir and maestrom don't synergize too well with spectre and neither does BKB and diffusal is too valuable to get skadi. Skadi is fine if it goes super late and you can abuse the fact that skadi works with lifesteal(Satanic) for melee heroes at the moment.
Manta first is no go though, doesn't give good enough teamfight early on and doesn't do much for farming either. Yasha and diffusal do more for earlygame teamfights and killing and radiance is better for farming regardless of the worse build-up(100 gold difference).
Also vlad doesn't nullify why satanic is amazing on spectre, even with vlads it's still an amazing lategame item on spectre. Strength, damage and armor combined with massive lifesteal on demand is god-tier for her. And BKB is sup-optimal for spectre, you shouldn't get it unless there's something that you crucially need to stop like an with an enemy team with sheepsticks up the wazoo.
And saying that rushing radiance doesn't help spectre is flat out wrong, the problem is that being allowed to rush radiance is rare and in comp play next to impossible. But if you WERE to be allowed to rush it, it would be absolutely amazing. Radiance is still an amazing item on spectre for farming and teamfights, especially with the buffed haunt. Same with weaver, if a weaver was allowed to get that radiance as his first item it is absolutely amazing. Weaver is different though, he doesn't use radiance to farm, but to fight(Common misconception that radiance weaver was stable on him due to it being a farming item, weaver is an amazing-midgame fighter and radiance has perfect synergy with his fighting style). Going treads drums and urn is far superior in the current pace of the game on weaver though.
And no, BB doesn't need radiance rush at all, that's a waste. He needs to gank, not farm.
Disclaimer: Not saying people can't build whatever the pineapple they want, i build sup-optimal items myself on a lot of heroes.
Sup-optimal items can be anything from personal preference(I prefer medallion to urn on weaver, but i know why urn is superior) to wanting to pineapple around(Dagon says hi) or to being forced into a corner(BF on anti-mage is optimal, but there are games where you're forced to build a vanguard, vlads and yasha and fight with your team, odds are that you'll lose because you were forced into that situation, but it's better to try and help your team if there is no other way than to keep trying to get a BF if that is also a guaranteed loss.
I guess we'll see about Radiance rush on Bristleback because the pig just came to town.
Edit: and by pig I meant... not a pig anymore.

Edit2: wait what the pineapple, another Treant pick. By Empire this time.
It's really not about seeing it, any tanky melee hero can sit back and farm with radiance. But the question is, why would you do it on a hero with such amazing teamfight and gank potential? Just get up some 'cheap' core items up and start roaming, he'll be a top tier pick without a doubt i'm sure.
It's basically like sitting down and farming with centaur or night stalker instead of making stuff happen.
And i'm so happy they dropped the bristlebog name.
Also venge is pretty again.
Radiance actually helps his teamfighting potential though, that's the thing. It synergizes really well with his great AoE damage. It's a lot like Radiance on Alchemist. Either you could get 200-300 gold from a gank or you could farm up a lane and the jungle faster than anyone else in the game and get twice the amount so you can get 6 items before their supports get their first bracer.
Oh my god, Spectre set. And new detailed tooltips if you want. I'm excited.
Because the key to bristleback is to not do more damage over a short period, its to survive longer and thus forcing the enemy to deal with you. They cannot focus you, because then the TA on your team will kill them with no resistance, if they dont focus you, then you will dish out a pomegranate ton of aoe damage and since this is physical, an early pipe wont help at all.
The only way to properly deal with bristleback is mana burn and kiting, which is where PL shines. So I dont expect him to be picked in any comp game if pl is in the pool.
Huh, Disruptor is super fun. Took me a bit to get the hang of him but I got it after a little while. And 2 bad deaths because I didn't realize Glimpse had a delay.
Holy crap, test server was loads of fun just dic'king around. Went trololo mode by giving a level 1 character Divine Rapier plus other good items. Set bots to level 10+, and roll in the levels. I actually managed to make Treant kick ass. Also amusing for theory crafting in seeing just how strong someone can be with max gold. As for Bristleback, he definitely seems to have the TF2 Sniper voice. I am totally okay with this, even if he's supposedly stupid good.
And then what? Then your team has invested an insane amount of gold in a hero that isn't good lategame.
Bristleback is amazing early and midgame, his lategame is very simply, not good. His strength is staying alive in teamfights racking up charges of his spells on enemies, and with the new buff to the quill spray cap it's quite simple, he NEEDS to be dealt with, it's not even a question anymore. Bristleback doesn't have a taunt, but his very kit forces enemies to somehow take care of him and handle him else they'll lose the fight since when quill spray reaches 300+ damage each spray in a mid-game teamfight your team will stay melting.
But quill spray falls off as far as damage goes the later the game goes, he's strong when nobody has a ton of armor, when the enemy 1st, 2nd and 3rd position have a decent amount of armor BB is suddenly far from as good as he could've been if you had focused on the midgame.
Being physical damage means that quill spray is absolutely amazing early and falls off heavily late.
It's just, 60 physical damage on BB isn't much, he already gets physical damage quite easily. And 40 damage per second is nice for a while, but eventually quill spray dwarfs radiance in terms of potential damage, and getting off 2 or 3 more quill sprays will have you deal more damage than radiance would've the entire fight. Which is why staying alive is key.
There's a lot of god-tier VAs in dota2. Valve did an amazing job.

Bristleback keyart... and very possibly Skywrath on the left?
It seems so obvious this time. Not like the Bristleback last time on Tusk's art.
Definitely skywrath, fits concept art published of him.
How does one deal with a Refresher Orb Zeus? Few things are as infuriating as entering a team fight only for the whole team to get hit by Veil of Discord and suddenly spell spam everywhere. Then my whole team is dead in seconds. Or maybe it's more a problem that Zeus got so fed.
pipe.
alternatively, don't let him get to that point.
or ward his jungle. I kid.
What's your skill build? Spectre seems pretty interesting. I stayed with lv 1 dagger for a while in a bot game, but when I looked up guides later, they tend to suggest lv 4 asap.
Edit: Tried Spectre a second time in a bot game. Got max dagger first. Not sure if it's the cause, but I did really well this time. Went straight for heart after drums since the game was ending soon. Can't wait to use Spectre in an actual game, though they probably won't let me last hit as easily as bots do.
If you're getting owned by Refresher Orb Zeus you're probably losing pretty badly to begin with.
You max dagger first because of the move speed slow and loss going up. Desolate is second and haunt should be gotten whenever you can. You finish off with dispersion and stats last.
Also if zeus is mid, just pineappleing gank him. He has zero surviveability. Smoke up and ez kills.
Ironically the game lasted an hour and 25 minutes, the longest bloody game I've played so far. I think it began with Zeus getting first blood, then it only went downhill from there when he, Storm Spirit, and Gyro got super fat. It also didn't help Keeper of the Light on my team for some reason picked up not one but TWO Mjolnirs, or Leshrac picking up 2 Bloodstones and an Assault Cuirass. After about the 60 minute mark I just didn't care anymore about winning, mostly since I couldn't think straight at that point.
Okay so basically there's been a lot of rumors about GOMtv doing Dota2 related stuff and possibly tournaments. That's nice and all, nobody expected too much since there isn't a korean scene to talk of.
Or rather, there wasn't.
Now SUDDENLY, FXOpen has picked up a dota2 team.
Korean announcement: http://www.thisisgame.com/board/view...438&id=1488638

How's the Korean scene in competitive LoL? Do they dominate there like they do in SC/SC2?
Oh snap. International DoTA 2 tournaments please!
What kind of a statement is this? You make it sound like I somehow paused the game and posted right there on SP how to win. The game already happened, I'm just asking for feedback on how to do better next time, in which I got some golden advice on how to counter said hero.
That Leshrac build is, while not the best build out there, not actually that bad. He does composite damage, has decent right-click damage, and loves lasting throughout a fight and needs the regen, health, and mana from bloodstone to do so. Replacing the second Bloodstone with BKB probably would be better though.
Also, I'm basically just waiting for 6.78 to hit. The pomegranatestorm will likely be hilarious.
Oh I know Bloodstone is a core item on Lesh. I found it absurd he grabbed a 2nd one though. I'm sorry but Bloodstoneception doesn't exist.
I won't be able to hold all of the Drow tears once the patch hits. We can probably provide water for all 3rd world countries. Haha.
Drow already got nerfed pretty hard in 6.77c, I doubt she'll get touched again.
Interested to see who or what Icefrog will promote next.
I'm really enjoying Spectre. She's so active that it forces me to look at other lanes more often. I've been sloppy in team fights since carrying is kinda overwhelming for me, but it's still really easy to get kills. I haven't had the chance to get Radiance yet, since by the time I'm done with the core, it's time to get a Reaver for Heart. I wish I did though. So many people, especially supports, are getting away with little health left. Haven't had the chance to get any lifesteal either. Is that only for really long games?
If you're being active in teamfights fairly early (before 20 or 25 minutes) and fun stuff like that, a Radiance isn't really what you want. Diffusal Blade will help you out with ganking and getting kills and locking people down away from their team. It also gives you more relevant stats on Spectre (the +damage doesn't apply to her Haunt illusions). Manta is also a good early item (or at least the Yasha to start) because of the agi and movement speed it gives both to you and your illusions. Radiance is more a farmer's item that helps you get a lot of items up fast but it's much less worth it if you can't get it up before 25 minutes or so (which is fairly hard to do on anyone in a pub, much less Spectre who has little to no lane presence early on).
Also, don't get Vanguard. It's really not a very good item. I don't know if you are getting it, but if you are then I would advise you not to.
Dat feeling when Wisp on the enemy side got so fed he got a Heart. It's both infuriating and yet hilarious at the same time.
I just HAVE to post this. Words of the Drunken Warlord for Brewmaster.

Dare I throw money at Valve? This weapon skin. DO FREAKING WANT SO MUCH.
I dunno, all the pomegranate in the shop is just so expensive. I don't mind supporting the game and I have bought the Bastion announcer and a couple of keys, but I don't want to be paying 15 bucks for a skin..
It should drop, yeah, the lina re-model also drops.
Double post because this is sick:

Seems blurpi got competition.
That Timbersaw dodging the shackleshot and the Nyx getting the impale on the BH twice just blow my mind. The Rubick waveform steal is incredible too.
Speaking of Rubick stealing spells...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRE6IbRemWs
Rubick has some pretty pineappleing cool animations for stolen spells.
EDIT: oh my, his animation when he steals culling blade. Try it for yourself.
OH MY GOD. Dat Timbersaw, DAT Rubick. DEM SPECIAL EFFECTS!

Instant fave forever.
Currently contemplating if i should use my savings to travel to TI3 or upgrade my PC.
THIS IS HARDER THAN PICKING BETWEEN CHARMANDER, BULBASAUR AND SQUIRTLE WHEN YOU'RE 6 YEARS OLD.
nevar 4get:
Long Live The International
The Play
Can You Feel It?
Also i can't get over the fact that at TI2 gaben had already put 2k hours into dota2. Devs that play and enjoy the games they're behind are the best in my book.
Your PC can stand to be the way it is for a while longer. TI3 is something that you don't get to see every day.
That Na'Vi vs. iG teamfight... I think I remember something about that. Na'Vi intentionally let iG have Naga/DS/Tide which was a super strong and usually banned combo just to prove that it could be beaten (with enigma/rubick), right? Or something along those lines. That was one of the first things I remember hearing about pro Dota 2.
god, what happened to Enigma and Tide in the pro scene?
The heck if I know. Perhaps Tide was dropped due to Dendi just stealing Ravage too many times. Oh wait...
Now that I think about it like that, maybe the pro scene are that afraid of Enigma and Tide's ults being used against them like that. Dendi confirmed for utterly shifting the metagame with his presence.
Tree seems to have become a new Empire pocket pick; they've picked him again.
You're thinking about it the wrong way; Tide (and to a lesser extent, Engima) isn't being banned or picked because he's not a favored hero in the current metagame. And there's several factors that play into that:
- Magnus got crazy buffs while Tide's ult got nerfed
- Split push meta favors high mobility heroes
- Na'ix is pretty popular right now
