What's the policy?
Google believes strongly in the freedom of expression, but also recognizes the need to protect the quality of the AdSense network for users, advertisers, and publishers.
Google ads aren't permitted on sites that contain harassing or bullying content, or on content that incites hatred or promotes violence against individuals or groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity. Additionally, Google ads may not appear on content that incites or advocates for harm against an individual or group.
However, websites containing educational, documentary, historical, scientific, or artistic content related to such subjects are permitted to participate in AdSense.

This comes down to an issue with googles "Veiws" and discretion.
I think while google seems to be the easiest to work with, I dont think the admin should fear moving to another provider either. Cause screw google.
Also, remove that if you think google will get mad, even though its just a maple story character on a maplestory forum.
whoa there. that's 2lewd4goog

The whole deal about freedom of speech is not what you say, but how you say it. Saying that someone is a horrible person and has committed crimes against humanity is fine, but you can't say that because of that the person deserves to be severely beaten, raped, killed, etc.
but then

So make sure to be artistic about your death threats, everyone!

no such "artistic" provision appears on the adult content subsection

Re: This is why, people, this is why.
I dont even wanna see naked ladies or men. But google is a massive punk, and will prevent you from even Talking about said things, or things even remotely similar to them.
Either way, im almost certain someone is targeting southperry, cause I NEVER seen anyone get this bagged by google before rofl.

I am betting if you reported them, or basilmarket, or mabination or most forum sites, frankly, they'd all fail.

Their help topic on the subject addresses that.

Probably because what ever method/bots google uses does not recognize anything against the policy, and no one from google has actually visited the site much?

yeah I did a quick look-see and there's some stories with a [members-only] tag. I'm guessing that's the racier ones.

the member-only thing is dependent on the author of the fanfiction itself. i, myself am subscribed to a bunch of 18+ smut fics that are open to the public.
((dont report asianfanfics tho, i live and breathe that website i need it to stay alive))

Re: This is why, people, this is why.
I'm just confused in general with these guidelines when I apply them to YouTube. I find it hard that people like PewDiePie can get away with as much as he does and still gets paid under Google AdSense's guidelines.

Negative content
Publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on sites with content advocating against any individual, group, or organization. More information about this policy can be found in our help center.
I can't think of any words to express how disappointed I am in Google, so I guess just quoting it will have to be enough.

If you were google, would you be willing to risk having SEVEN-POINT-SEVEN MILLION VIEWS PER DAY PewDiePie becoming disgruntled and relocating all his operations to a competing website? Would you be able to deal with the backlash by the "bro army"?

He works under Polaris, not directly under Google. If pomegranate happens, Polaris takes care of him. That's what it's like to be a managed partner.

Kind of my first thought, he does bring in decent revenue on his content.

Had no idea he was with Polaris as well... that's a huge network or maybe I forgot after they rebranded from TGS. Whatever the case, those are some pretty nice perks to have. Even with the whole copyright fiasco that YouTube was having recently. Polaris seemed pretty well on top of it considering the number of partners they had. Machinima however, not so much.
I guess all in all, the double-standards kind of bug me considering this site is on the lighter end of questionable content but that's how the world goes around sometimes. Best to continue to try stripping paint.

Re: This is why, people, this is why.
Just make the Shenanigans forum open to gold level donators only, since they don't get ads.

Re: This is why, people, this is why.
We don't need more exclusive subforums.
