Because Khanjars and Dkhanjars aren't always easy to get, plus high level shields are scarce in general.

Someone remind me, did GMS do anything with that Brown Bean from the extractions?
They brought back the OSSS with the somewhat disappointing Pink Zakum run but there was a Brown colored Pink Bean that I don't remember seeing anywhere yet.

VIP Thief shields are probably the best shield for PvP (but then again... it's only marginally better).

This won't be the first time Nexon has retconned the crap out of old content.
In fact, the entire Silent Crusade was retconned to fit with the Black Mage story.
