Anyways, if you've played GSC, then you can pretty much get through this since nothing much has been changed story-wise. For movesets, you can just look at the DPPt Pokedex on Serebii.

Which emulator/patch are you using? I've got all three DS emulators and am well versed in each, though I prefer no$, I can't get it to go past where the character shrinks down. Linking to a patch shouldn't be against the rules, either, since it's not distributing anything illegal so I see no problem there.

I'm using DeSmuME 0.9.4. My ROM is unpatched.

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I find that saving the game actually helps reduce the amount of crashes you experience. When I went heavy on the save states, I also found that the amount of crashes rose.

Are you playing with awful lag (40% = 60% usually)? What's your set up because I got sick of it a few seconds after leaving the first room. I played through the entirety of Diamond with a notsogreat framerate but this was absolutely intolerable.

I'm getting around 60-80% outside of battle. Try going to Config > 3D Settings and set the renderer to "SoftRasterizer", to see if that helps.
