Monster Life Breeding and Play Reference (WIP) - Stereo - 2013-09-29
Special Form temporarily unavailable while I move the data to the new system. (this time I was smart enough to shut down the form first, so I don't have to catch the stragglers). Once it's fully moved, I'll make it available at the same addresses, http://absolute-water-347.appspot.com/ or http://monsterlife.90d.ca/
I'm not gonna do it tonight but I'm planning to change the footer code so that all pages have the links to regular/special monsters and home visible. So if some pages can't get somewhere temporarily deal with it.
[edit] Finally pushed the Special precursor version. If I've missed a type, let me know - I'm a little tired.

It didn't matter then, but I ended up spending 2M waru trying to get an SS mushroom and every soldier in the book, so I upgraded to milk houses.

I noticed it when the changes were made, but I did not need to experience it until now.
They diluted Soldiers to such a high degree; regaining a farm full of Reaper Specters or Pirate King Barbosas is going to be so arduous now. Not to mention it feels as if the rates of S + S = S have been lowered. QQ
Does anyone with the ability to get on first thing after reset notice the Special Shop more frequently than if you check in for the first time later in the day? If I get up in the middle of the night (early AM) and check I seem to run into the Shop more frequently than if I get up at my normal time.

Yeah, I noticed that when I was updating the specials. Thanks for that.
Also, someone got an error from the regular farm update page last night. If it happens to you and you think it's an actual problem (not just the input being wrong) then could you post here with what you did? I found one problem, but in general the error log is not super informative to me.

I had a really hard time getting back my Reaper Specter, but it was because there are like 5 S ranks instead of the 3. The rates for S + S = S seems to be the same for most monster, except Soldiers seem to get SS at a higher rate and Spirits seem to get S rank very often. The ranks for Oddities and Plants are somewhat messed up, considering you can go from an S to an A in one combo.
The Special Shop does seem to appear more frequently right at midnight. I nurture my monsters almost every night at that time and if I don't get it then, there is like an 80% chance I won't get it all day. This is mixed with old personal data from before the changes; the special shop acts weird now. Like ChaMukoO said, for some reason, higher or max aesthetics doesn't seem to really have any effect.

Along with Soldier changes, I was also curious: Although I don't personally use Birds for anything, I was wondering how those that do expect to get a Griffey. If not for the high Waru combination cost and the previous question, I might have attempted for a Von Bon.
I hypothesize that some monsters are actually some rank even though they display a different rank e.g. Birds or what ChaoticCJ stated for Plants and Oddities and their perceived double drop in rank. This might also explain the higher than usual rate of certain SS which might now actually be S but still display SS. I can poke this idea full of holes, I know, just trying to think it through, aloud.

I'm probably not looking hard enough, but I can't seem to find any combination that requires a Jr. Seal as a parent. Does it have any Special Combination?

Nope, some Specials just DON'T have special combinations, like the Book Ghost.

Hurr, repopulated Pig/Plant/DragonOnly with Cs so strangers can revive them cheaply. I dunno how many people actually use the ilikepig/etc. type of farms but it can't hurt.

I use those types of farms a lot for doing the repeating "nurture" quests, and sometimes I manage to exhaust both Cxxx and ilikexxx and not manage to get a xxx to nurture. So thank you for more farms of that sort.

what do those boxes in the shop give? are they supposed to be good monsters?
when i checked, one of my farms "chairman" still has a few (dead) b and c toys. if anyone wants to revive.
anyway ill get around to refreshing all my dead farms when i get more time

Click on your Book at the bottom of the screen. Select Specials, and click search (magnifier). If you click on the picture of a special monster in the page that opens, it will tell you how that monster comes to be. Most of them show a special combination, but some say "Acquired from Monster Box".
The boxes can contain only the ones that say that, at the levels according to the description of the box. Some give useful stats in and of themselves, some are used to combine for other Special monsters that give good stats, and some are a waste of waru.
