<Sarah> For the last month or two they've been doing that milestone bullshit
<Sarah> where if you spend money they'll put stuff on sale later
<Sarah> And have been advertising it in such a way that made it seem as if it would be reasonable for anyone to obtain the items
<Sarah> And today the sale began and they put those items out in quantities as low as TWO
<Sarah> total
<Isaac> who? what?
<Isaac> and yeah that's not unusual at all for black friday
<Isaac> "LAPTOPS for $199!" (limit 2 per store)
<Sarah> Obviously that's unscrupulous but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to solicit money with the promise of something when you don't intend to reasonably uphold the other end of the sale
<Sarah> that's different
<Sarah> those stores actually SAY there's a limit
<Sarah> Nexon made it seem unlimited
<Sarah> And it should have been
<Isaac> in tiny print that's on screen for a few seconds
<Sarah> It's still there
<Sarah> And that covers them legally
<Sarah> Nexon didn't do it at all
<Sarah> I'm sick of them taking advantage of kids
<Isaac> that's so typical of Nexon though, there's no real excuse for limited amounts of non-physical items
<Isaac> but they do it all the time
<Sarah> This is different from anything else they've ever done before
<Sarah> Because they never actually advertise the limited item sales prior to the event
<Sarah> So people know there's a gamble
<Sarah> And they've always specifically stated that it would be limited quantities
<Sarah> Neither of which they did this time
<Sarah> They used the popularity of the items to entice people to pre-charging
<Sarah> and had no intention of fulfilling their end
<Isaac> I get what you mean
<Sarah> Even at department stores and stuff
<Sarah> If you don't get what you came for
<Sarah> you don't have to spend anything
<Isaac> i think Nexon believes that "since players are purchasing the points directly, not items, they can't be held accountable for whether or not the player's intentions for the points pan out
<Sarah> Nexon doesn't give refunds
<Sarah> Of course, I understand what they wanted from this but the way they went about it is felonious
<Sarah> But like you said before, even, there's not a god damn reason to limit the sales of those specific items
<Sarah> I wrote a pros and cons list the other day
<Isaac> what I mean is that while this is underhanded in all likelihood it's perfectly legal
<Isaac> just utterly dispicable
<Sarah> And they would have profited more by making them unlimited for like 6 hours
<Sarah> And even in the long run it wouldn't have mattered since anything that changes equipment quickly becomes worthless
<Sarah> The pets produce more sales every 3 months
<Isaac> just because of the technicalities on how NX/etc. works
<Sarah> Experience cards are spiritually limited 2 per person in a 6 hour period
<Sarah> because there's no reason to buy more than that
<Sarah> Normally I understand their business model but this is baffling
<Sarah> I mean, even furthering that
<Isaac> yeah
<Sarah> You get a bunch of kids with too much money now smegaing their now godly equips
<Sarah> And that's going to make a couple indecisive people squirm so much that they'll charge some NX before the sales end
<Sarah> It's a snowball event that could've netted them money throughout the whole day
<Sarah> No one is going to charge any NX now
<Isaac> If you lay it out, really
<Isaac> I imagine nexon was thinking
<Isaac> "We say there's a sale, people buy NX prepaid cards, we already have their money so we only put out a handful of discounted items. They'll have to buy their things at full price if they want them! so we'll get more money!"
<Isaac> that's not what happens at all
<Sarah> And that's what has made sense in previous years
<Isaac> especially this time of year
<Sarah> But this year they have freaking credit cards available again
<Isaac> there WILL be another sale before christmas
<Isaac> that's all but guaranteed
<Sarah> Impulse buying is SO EASY
<Isaac> so if the need isn't immediate, people will wait for the next sale
<Sarah> Yeah
<Sarah> They're screwing themselves out of so much money
<Sarah> and look bad in doing it
