Black Friday Sale 2010 - Sarah - 2010-11-26

Dark Link Wrote:And how is this any different from 2008 and 2009's Black Friday Sales?

It is only about the milestone items that they specifically solicited money for with the expectation that there would be a reasonable chance at retrieving them once they were on sale. In the past they have NEVER advertised specific items, nor have they solicited money under the guise that doing so will provide you with a chance to buy other things you want cheaper, later.

It wouldn't be bad if 1. they hadn't accepted money in exchange for these items being on sale. Yes, that's what they did with the milestone event. These were a prize for anyone who spent money to unlock the milestones. and 2. If they had straight up said they would be in extremely limited quantities before the sale so consumers who were unsure could make an informed decision on whether or not to risk their money.

This is completely different from all of their other sales.

Completely lame. Cubes will go out of stock probably within 2 minutes. I'm not even going to bother. Nexon, you can't have my money.

WingZero Wrote:I think many people are angry at the fact that even the Milestone items are limited. The Milestone Items were supposed to be a reward for spending XX amount of NX by Black Friday, but what good is it if there is only a limited quantity?

Anyone who believes those milestones were a reward for anything, and especially those who spent NX with the purpose of unlocking the milestones, deserves to be scammed by Nexon.

Black Friday Sale 2010 - Worthyness - 2010-11-26

you know, unlimited cubes woulda made more sense for them money wise o_o

That and the fact it would allow for deflation of advanced potential scrolls (and thereby increasing demand for them and more cubes). Not to mention that it doesn't cost them anything to just program in unlimited cubes. It's a win win for Nexon,

Too bad with their limited quantity thing they're all gonna be sold out in less than a minute due to high demand and extremely ridiculously low supply. If it was 300-500 cubes, it wouldn't take at least a couple of minutes, but with less than 100? don't expect to get any due to over run servers and DCs due to overload Smile

SaptaZapta Wrote:It isn't any different. They were all failures.

This. No where I said the previous events were good. They might have been a bit better as the milestones thing was't present back at that time. You may be right about it being too early to say if this is the worst of all these failure events or not but what we have seen so far only leads us to think it is.

Black Friday Sale 2010 - 0^2 - 2010-11-26

Wow 65Gach tickets for 40k NX.

Black Friday Sale 2010 - CarrionCrow - 2010-11-26

80 packages of 65 gash tickets, cheap, but not anything I need. So the tier items are pretty much confirmed to be limited then. I have not been this angry at Nexon since the time when my guild got hacked and I could not get the guild name again.

Because my angry post format is actually more jumbled than my TALK ON THE RUN format I will post this discussion to emphasize my points

Black Friday Sale 2010 - Joe.2 - 2010-11-26

The rockabilly dresses weren't even discounted, they were at full price. I bet they're gonna do that a lot, throw items in at full price and expect people to get them without noticing.

Black Friday Sale 2010 - Beg - 2010-11-26

Don't fancy facing off against a ton of CS campers just for a few cubes I can otherwise get at any time. Not that desperate to save NX that I didn't invest real cash in.

Why?

Suppose player P has set aside $100 for cubes for Black Friday.
It doesn't even matter whether they bought the NX ahead of time, although of course if they did that money is already in Nexon's pocket.

Black Friday rolls around and player P manages to get maybe one cube.
Now what?
P has his heart set on cubing his gear. He can't stand to look at his pitiful damage any longer. He will spend those $100 on cubes at full price. He will rant and rave and maybe even rage-quit for a few days, but eventually he will buy those cubes at full price.
With any luck (for Nexon), the results will not be quite satisfactory, and P will somehow dig up another $25 or $50 for more NX and more cubes at full price.

What if the cheap cubes had been unlimited? Well, P would still spend $100 on cubes. With ~120 of them, the chances are higher that he'd be satisfied with the results and not buy any more cubes. Or that his conscience will say "we only buy cubes when they're on sale". So, it's a bit less likely that he'd spend more money on NX.

Either way, Nexon gets their $100 plus possible bonus.

It was permanent though.

Probably what I'm going to end up doing, except I won't charge more NX for it. I might wait for another sale, don't know yet. But yeah, mad.

Tho most people would not charge 232m NX in one go. I had some bunkered up and was gonna charge more if sale was nifty . The missleading info combined with the topic of my previous post makes that less than likely to happen. I'm confident many roll like this.

Exactly this. They're counting on people spending the money they've already charged just because it's there. They could have profited more by giving incentive to continue charging through the day. You spend that $100 and don't get good stats but since the sale is still going you're more likely to use that as a chance to try more.
