Got my pay today and was planning on spending it all on clothes. My friends don't want to go shopping with me so I won't spend my money :( ...
Because we are filing our taxes separately instead of jointly I have to pay nearly $4k in taxes this year. Fuckin woo. Not stressful at all.
A bit disappointed that my year old build only just barely hits the ultra specs for Watch Dogs. My CPU is under the requirement and my RAM is just hitting it. It shouldn't make a big difference though, hopefully. Although, I am looking forward to adding a second stick of RAM to make it 16GB, unfortunately, it's too expensive (it's $80!!). Thank goodness I got the first stick for free w/ my motherboard.
Watched the final ever episode of Being Human (US). Probably the most satisfying ending of a series ever, much more than the open-ended nature of how the UK series ended.
UK Spoilers
Amazing to think that I followed the series from the time it was an experimental pilot which i never thought would be made into a series. Then it got 5 seasons in the UK and a remake which lasted 4 seasons (and was way better). It's all over now though, which is kinda sad. At least it ended on the highest note possible.
Absolutely f'ucking DEMOLISHED that waves test. If I don't get a 100% I will be surprised (since the test explicitly stated what answers we should get).
Spoiler
I have liquids coming out from every opening on my face. It's so gross.
Funny enough, that exact equation didn't even show up on the test even though it was in the covered chapters.
There were four problems:
nonlinear oscillator (given a potential for an ionic bond, basically just have to take derivatives. this one was a joke lol)
coupled oscillators (two pendulums connected by a spring, find eqn of motion, frequencies, generalized coordinates. classical mechanics stuff)
standing waves (reflection/transmission. had to use trig identities)
and a Fourier transform.
The more difficult formulas needed were given on a separate page but they were in the same order the questions used them so lol. average is going to be in the 60s like usual I bet.
We had a quiz once where it was literally "take the 2nd and 3rd derivative and divide them" and WAY too many people were getting 2/10 like seriously i dont even
Leaving for PAX tomorrow! Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh so excite! :glitter:
I found this little guy in a 35 pound bag of Crawfish today at work. The poor thing is missing part of its front left leg, though. We brought it home and are naming it Roshi (老師).

I received the greatest piece of dancing advice ever last night from my Bachata follow.
"You have to tell me where to go. If you tell me to go nowhere, I will go nowhere. If you tell me you want to spin me, I will spin. I should be able to dance with you with my eyes closed and simply feel your frame and presence. If you cannot communicate your frame, then we can't dance. Stronger frame! Stronger lead! Go!" And then we danced.
That phrase "I should be able to dance with you with my eyes closed" was rather enlightening and totally changed the way I think about dancing.
Because if she's dancing with her eyes closed, that means I have the following responsibilities:
- MOVE HER
- Make sure she doesn't run into anyone
- Use my frame to clearly communicate what I want the next move to be. There are certain hand signals, bodyweight changes, and frame movements I can do to communicate what I want.
If there is an error in dancing, there's only a 10% chance that it's her fault (I gave the signal strongly, she just didn't do anything about it) and 90% that it's mine because I didn't tell her where to go.
As a lead, I can do whatever I want to do. That is very liberating and entirely scary at the same time. I have complete control over a woman in dance. She can shut her mind off and just listen.
Gah, moving soon in like a couple of weeks. Not fond of figuring budgets and expenses related to the move. At least my fiancée is moving in with me the following week.
